Objectives of the Project

The primary objective is likely to be to integrate large-scale solar energy into the grid while ensuring grid stability. By storing excess solar power during the day and releasing it during peak demand, the BESS aims to regulate grid frequency and voltage, preventing power outages and improving overall grid reliability.

This project serves as a pilot and demonstration for integrating large-scale renewable energy sources like solar and wind into the national grid. Furthermore, it aligns with India's ambitious clean energy targets and aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels by increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix.

Additionally, the project's large scale and integration with cutting-edge technologies like bifacial solar modules showcase India's commitment to advancement and innovation in the renewable energy sector.

Project Infrastructure

A notable feature of this endeavor is its strategic use of previously unused land. A land-use permission agreement between the Energy Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh, Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL), and SECI turned 451 acres of wasteland in 9 villages in Tehsil Dongargarh and Dongargaon, District Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, into an energy project site.

The power is transmitted through a 132-kilovolt (kV) double-circuit double-string transmission line to the Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Limited's (CSPTCL) 220/132-kilovolt (kV) Thelkadih substation, ensuring stable and reliable electricity supply and seamless integration with the current power grid.
