Zelestra, the global renewable energy developer, has signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Tesla for the entire output of a new 140 MWac solar facility in northeast Texas, extending a commercial relationship between the two companies that began in Spain in 2024.
A New Facility Takes Shape in Northeast Texas
The agreement covers the Lumen Farm solar project, a 140 MWac plant that Zelestra anticipates will begin construction in 2027 and reach full operations in 2029.
The project is located in northeast Texas, though the company has not disclosed the precise site location. Under the terms of the PPA, Tesla will purchase the entire output of the facility, providing a full offtake arrangement for the plant's generation from the moment it comes online.
Phil North, Zelestra's US CEO, said the company is focused on bringing the project to operational status as quickly as possible. "As a trusted global partner, we can deliver bespoke solutions for clients in multiple geographies," North said.
"We are excited to expand our relationship with Tesla to the US. We aim to deliver the project and bring the new solar plant online as quickly as possible to support Tesla's growing energy needs in Texas."
A Relationship That Started in Spain
The Texas agreement is not the first time Zelestra and Tesla have entered a commercial arrangement. In 2024, the two parties signed a 57 MWac PPA covering the output of the Brazatortas I, II and IV solar plants, located in the Castilla-La Mancha region of Spain. Zelestra announced that agreement publicly in February 2025.
The Texas deal, announced on July 28, 2026, represents a direct expansion of that existing global engagement, with Zelestra now serving Tesla across two distinct energy markets on two continents. The combined contracted capacity across both agreements totals 197 MWac.

Zelestra's Expanding US Portfolio
The Lumen Farm deal is part of a broader push by Zelestra to establish itself as a significant player in the United States energy market. The company describes itself as a global, multi-technology, customer-focused renewable energy developer and says it is developing a portfolio of more than 16 gigawatts of renewable energy projects across key markets worldwide.
In addition to its Tesla agreements, Zelestra has been active in signing corporate PPAs with other major technology companies in the US. In February 2026, the company announced a power purchase agreement with Meta for the 176 MWdc Skull Creek Solar Plant, also located in Texas.
The company has also collaborated with Microsoft in Spain, working alongside environmental nonprofit ECODES to deliver clean energy and social impact in that market, an initiative announced in November 2025.
The concentration of Zelestra's US activity in Texas reflects the state's position as one of the most active markets for large-scale renewable energy procurement, driven by its deregulated electricity market and the growing power demands of technology and industrial customers in the region.
Corporate Demand Driving Solar Development Timelines
The structure of the Lumen Farm agreement, in which Tesla commits to purchasing the full output of a plant not yet under construction, is consistent with how large corporate buyers have been contracting for renewable energy in recent years.
By securing offtake agreements before construction begins, developers like Zelestra are able to use the contracted revenue as a foundation for project financing, while the corporate buyer secures a fixed supply of renewable energy at agreed terms ahead of when that energy is actually needed.
The timeline Zelestra has outlined for Lumen Farm, with construction starting in 2027 and operations beginning in 2029, gives the company approximately two years from the date of the announcement to complete development and permitting work before breaking ground, and a further two years to complete construction and commissioning.
North's reference to Tesla's "growing energy needs in Texas" points to the expanding operational footprint that Tesla has been building in the state, which is home to the company's Gigafactory near Austin, among other facilities.
Zelestra Positions Itself as a Multi-Market Partner
Zelestra's ability to serve Tesla in both Spain and the United States is central to how the company is presenting itself to large corporate customers. The company frames its value proposition around the capacity to deliver energy solutions across multiple geographies, describing its agreements with major technology and automotive companies as tailored to the specific needs of what it refers to as hyperscalers and corporate partners.
The Brazatortas plants in Castilla-La Mancha, which form the basis of the Spain agreement with Tesla, represent an existing operational or near-operational asset base that Zelestra has been using to anchor its relationship with the company.
With the Lumen Farm PPA now signed, Zelestra has active agreements with at least three major technology and corporate buyers in the US market, including Tesla and Meta, alongside its European engagements with Tesla and Microsoft.
Power Your Pipeline: Intelligence Built for North America's Energy Sector
How much revenue is slipping through the gaps because your team lacks visibility into where the next major power project is heading? Across the United States, billions of dollars in energy infrastructure investment are being planned, tendered, and awarded right now, and the organizations capturing that business are the ones with the right intelligence at the right time.
