Volta Data Centres, a data centre platform owned by Arcus Infrastructure Partners, has acquired the Reynolds House Manchester data centre from Lunar Digital through a carve-out transaction, the parties announced in London on 27 October 2026.

Lunar Digital Sells Manchester Colocation Business

The acquired business provides carrier-neutral, interconnection-led colocation services from the Reynolds House campus in Manchester, United Kingdom. The transaction excludes the Lunar Digital brand, which is retained by Lunar Digital.

The sale marks a significant milestone for Lunar Digital, which only launched its first data centre, Lunar 1, in January 2024.

The Reynolds House site

Lunar Digital was founded in 2022 and is based in the south-central Manchester connectivity cluster, the city's main networking hub.

The Reynolds House site hosts approximately 25 carriers, a London Internet Exchange point of presence, and direct dark fibre links to Equinix's MA1 data centre. Lunar serves approximately 60 customers across content networks, carriers, cybersecurity, IT services, and enterprise.

The site currently has approximately 1.45MW of IT capacity installed, with plans to expand to 2.5MW.

Strategic significance for Volta

Manchester is the UK's largest regional data centre market outside London and the leading network aggregation point for Northern England.

The acquisition marks Volta's first expansion outside London and establishes a platform for further growth in the region. The acquired Reynolds House business will draw on staff transferring with the business, further recruitment, and Volta's central resources.

Charlie Scott, Senior Investment Director and Asset Manager for Volta, said the Reynolds House data centre "stood out as an ideal first bolt-on acquisition for Volta under Arcus' ownership and is a key step in building a leading UK connectivity-led colocation platform."

Scott added that its established position at the heart of Manchester's connectivity ecosystem and its high-quality customer base give Volta a strong foothold in the UK's most important regional data centre market and will allow the firm to offer customers connectivity across London and Manchester.

Jason Liggins, CEO of Volta, welcomed the deal, noting that until now Volta has been a London business. "Having a second home in Manchester gives our customers more choice, as well as more places to connect," Liggins said.

He thanked the Lunar Digital management team for the business they have built and for their support through the transition, saying the focus now is to keep delivering and improving the service every customer receives.

Lunar Digital's perspective

Robin Garbutt, CEO and Co-Founder of Lunar Digital, said that building the Reynolds House data centre into an established part of the city's connectivity ecosystem had been a significant achievement for the team.

"We are proud of the business we have developed and pleased to see Arcus and Volta support its next phase of growth," Garbutt said, adding that the transaction brings new investment and opportunities for the data centre, its customers, and its people, while Lunar Digital retains its brand.

The United Kingdom Data Center Boom Is Being Written Right Now; Don't Read About It Afterward

Every hyperscale campus, colocation facility, and edge data center coming online across the United Kingdom begins its life as a line on a pipeline, long before a single trench is dug or a transformer is installed. The developers, contractors, and suppliers who win in this market are the ones who see those projects early.

The challenge? Critical intelligence on data center development, from planning permissions to land acquisitions and grid connections, is scattered across dozens of sources, languages, and formats. Stitching it together manually costs time you don't have and leaves gaps your competitors will exploit.

The Global Project Tracking (GPT) platform by Blackridge Research consolidates the UK data center project landscape into a single, continuously updated database, giving you the visibility to target the right opportunities at the right stage.
