Vanda RE Pte Ltd, a joint venture between Gurīn Energy Pte Ltd and Gentari, has signed a major framework supply agreement with LONGi Green Energy Technology Co Ltd to supply up to 1 GW of high-performance solar photovoltaic (PV) modules for a utility-scale renewable energy project in the Riau Islands, Indonesia.
This project, which includes 2 gigawatts-peak (GWp) of solar PV capacity and 4.4 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of battery storage, aims to support cross-border decarbonisation efforts between Indonesia and Singapore. The agreement was signed by Mr Enda Ginting, Country Manager of Gurīn Energy, Mr Dennis Guo, Regional Head of Southeast Asia of LONGi, and Mr Joseph Wong, Head of Renewable Energy Projects of Gentari.
Project Overview
The solar-and-storage project is a key component of the green economic corridor initiative between Indonesia and Singapore, aiming to meet Indonesia's local content requirements for renewable energy infrastructure. LONGi's solar PV modules will be used to generate electricity for both local consumption and export to Singapore.
The battery storage component will enable the project to provide a stable and reliable supply of electricity, reducing the cost of green power development. The project is a significant milestone for Vanda RE's joint venture, marking a major step forward in Indonesia's emergence as a clean technology hub.
Partnership Benefits
The partnership between Vanda RE and LONGi is expected to drive local industrial growth and strengthen regional energy partnerships. Frank Zhao, President of LONGi APAC, emphasized the strategic impact of the collaboration, stating that it fulfils Indonesia's local content requirements while delivering cost-competitive, sustainable electricity to Singapore.
The partnership also highlights the role of large-scale solar and storage deployments in reducing the cost of green power development. By working together, Vanda RE and LONGi aim to support Indonesia's goal to become a regional clean tech hub while driving economic growth and job creation.
