Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a significant support package for infrastructure and energy projects in Bihar. The union budget focuses mainly on additional support for major infrastructure projects in Bihar. The government allocated around USD 3 billion (INR 26,000 crore) for infrastructure projects in Bihar.

The government is supporting major road connectivity projects, namely the Patna-Purnia Expressway, Buxar-Bhagalpur Expressway, Bodhgaya, Rajgir, Vaishali, and Darbhanga spurs, and an additional 2-lane bridge over the River Ganga at Buxar.

The government announced power projects, including setting up a new 2400 MW power plant at Pirpainti, with an outlay of about USD 2.5 billion (INR 21,400 crore). The Union government has also provided financial support for significant construction projects in Bihar.
The finance minister also announced the development of an industrial node at Gaya for the Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor. This corridor will catalyze the industrial development of the eastern region. The finance minister highlighted that the industrial node at Gaya will also be a good model for developing our ancient centers of cultural importance into future centers of the modern economy.
