The UAE's Ministry of Investment and Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to invest in data center projects, totaling an IT capacity of around 1 GW.

Dr. Amr Talaat, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Egypt, stated that the initial stage of the MoU will involve the construction of a data center with a capacity of 100 MW. The proposed incentives will support further investment in data center projects.

Egypt and the UAE will engage in the exchange of general project-related information and investigate potential collaborations in areas such as policy and investment research, certification development, research and development, and innovation related to data center projects.

Through collaboration, the two parties will establish a joint action plan and monitoring mechanisms to ensure the effective execution of the memorandum.

The MoU contributes to the advancement of Egypt's digitization objectives. The 'Digital Egypt' initiative, part of Egypt's Vision 2030, aims to assist Egypt in developing a robust digital economy. The vision primarily focuses on developing ICT infrastructure, both within and outside of Egypt.
