Scala Data Centers has started operations at its first data center facility in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The data center named SPOAPAO1 has an IT capacity of 4.8 MW. The total project cost is around USD 48 million. Renewable energy sources provide all of the facility's power. The expected PUE (power usage effectiveness) is 1.4 or less.

The data center is designed for high-density computing and scalable infrastructure. It is located in a highly connected region with proximity to legacy data centers and the Malbec subsea cable.
