TotalEnergies announced on November 2, 2026, the signing of agreements with PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB), PTTEP, and KUFPEC to acquire a 30% operated interest in the Lang Lebah and B14 gas fields, located off the coast of Sarawak, Malaysia.
Upon completion of the transactions, which are subject to regulatory approvals, TotalEnergies will hold a 30% operated interest in both fields, alongside PTTEP (25%), KUFPEC (25%), and PCSB (20%).
Project Scope and Resources
Lang Lebah, one of Malaysia's largest offshore gas discoveries, and the nearby B14 field are planned to be developed as an integrated project. According to the company, this combined development is expected to unlock more than 6.5 trillion cubic feet of gas resources, equivalent to more than 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent.
The gas is intended to supply the existing Malaysia LNG liquefaction plant, with a production plateau of around 10 billion cubic meters per annum (BCMA).

Strategic Rationale
Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, said the development of the Lang Lebah and B14 resources will allow the creation of another large-scale gas hub in Malaysia, leveraging shared infrastructure, to supply gas to Malaysia LNG and meet growing LNG demand in Asia.
The company stated that these agreements mark another important step in its strategy to strengthen its integrated gas position in Malaysia, following the acquisition of SapuraOMV in 2024 and the expansion of its long-standing partnership with PETRONAS in 2025.

From Offshore Terminals to LNG Pipelines: Track Every Oil & Gas Project Shaping Malaysia
Malaysia is undergoing an unprecedented energy buildout; floating LNG facilities, refinery expansions, and offshore developments across Malaysia are transforming the region's oil & gas landscape. But with hundreds of projects at different stages, how can you be sure you're not missing the next billion-dollar opportunity?
Many energy companies, EPC contractors, and suppliers still rely on scattered news reports and outdated databases to track project developments. That approach leaves gaps at exactly the moment decisions matter, when tenders are released, contracts are awarded, or construction milestones shift timelines.
The Global Project Tracking (GPT) platform by Blackridge Research consolidates everything into a single, continuously updated dashboard, giving you a clear line of sight into every oil & gas project across Malaysia, from early feasibility through commissioning.
