Suzlon Energy (a renewable energy company) has secured a repeat order of 195 MW from Sunsure Energy (an Indian Independent Power Producer), pushing the cumulative sales of its 3 MW turbine platform to nearly 9 gigawatts.
The order, announced, involves the supply and installation of 65 S144 wind turbine generators in the Bijapur district of Karnataka, with each unit rated at a capacity of 3.0 MW.
Order Details and Project Scope
Under the terms of the agreement, Suzlon will supply the S144 wind turbines, manage erection and commissioning, and provide comprehensive operations and maintenance services following project completion. The project is located in the Bijapur district of Karnataka, a state that has now become Suzlon's largest market by orderbook value.
The Sunsure order takes the cumulative volume of work between the two companies to nearly 300 MW across Maharashtra and Karnataka. The two organizations first partnered prior to this order, with Suzlon noting that the relationship is expected to grow further beyond the current combined total.
Karnataka Orderbook Crosses 2 GW Milestone
The 195 MW addition pushes Suzlon's total orderbook in Karnataka beyond 2 GW, a figure the company characterized as a key milestone in one of India's leading wind markets. Suzlon's existing installed base in Karnataka stands at 1,500 MW, which the company said represents 24 percent of its total installed capacity in South India.
Beyond the Sunsure project, Suzlon is also executing other large commercial and industrial projects in Karnataka with a combined capacity of 664 MW, indicating a substantial concentration of ongoing work within the state.
Girish Tanti, Executive Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, cited Karnataka alongside Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra as top priority markets for the company.
He attributed the strong growth in Karnataka specifically to rising demand from the commercial and industrial segment, where wind energy is increasingly being sought for round-the-clock power solutions.

S144 Platform Drives FY26 Order Intake
Suzlon's S144 turbine, the flagship product within its 3 MW series, secured more than 2.4 GW of orders during the financial year 2026 alone, according to the company. The platform's cumulative sales reaching nearly 9 GW underscores its position as the company's most commercially successful product line.
Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, said the repeat nature of the Sunsure order reflects the trust built through consistent delivery. "We have built close to 300 MW of partnership with Sunsure Energy, driven by our consistent focus on quality, execution, and lifecycle support, which makes us a dependable partner for large and critical projects," Kapur said.
Sunsure's Round-the-Clock Energy Strategy
Founded in 2014, Sunsure Energy operates as an independent power producer focused on round-the-clock renewable energy Projects. The company delivers long-term power purchase agreements that it says can offset up to 100 percent of a corporate customer's power consumption through a combination of solar, wind, and battery storage.
Sunsure is backed by Partners Group AG, which has made an equity commitment of USD 400 million toward the company's objective of becoming the largest industrial decarbonization company in India and Southeast Asia.
The company currently has 700 MW of operational renewable energy assets, with a further 7.10 GW in various stages of development and construction across Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. Sunsure has set a target of reaching 10 GW of operational capacity by 2030.
Shashank Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Sunsure Energy, framed the wind order within the company's broader ambition to build power infrastructure capable of delivering electricity on demand rather than only when weather conditions permit.
"The next generation of clean energy infrastructure will not be the one that works when the sun shines, or the wind blows, it will be defined by its ability to deliver power when India needs it the most," Sharma said.
He cited artificial intelligence and data center demand, electric mobility, and broader electrification of the economy as the key end markets driving Sunsure's round-the-clock renewable buildout.
Sharma also pointed to Suzlon's execution track record and its lifecycle operations and maintenance capabilities as factors in choosing the turbine manufacturer as a partner.
Suzlon's Broader Position in Indian Wind
The Suzlon Group has installed approximately 21.5 GW of wind energy capacity across 17 countries, according to data as of December 31, 2025. Of that global total, 15.5 GW represents the company's installed base within India, with a further approximately 6 GW installed outside the country.
Headquartered in Pune, Suzlon maintains in-house research and development centers in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and India, along with manufacturing facilities across India.
The company employs more than 8,500 people and describes itself as India's leading renewable energy solutions provider. Its product portfolio centers on the 2.x MW and 3.x MW series of wind turbines, with the 3 MW S144 platform now accounting for nearly 9 GW of total platform sales.
