The Minister also highlighted the Coastal Community Development scheme, a program designed to uplift communities living in Tamil Nadu’s coastal regions. He underlined the importance of ensuring that local livelihoods and social well-being grow in tandem with infrastructure expansion, striking a balance between progress and inclusivity.
Honoring a Maritime Pioneer
The inauguration coincided with the birth anniversary of freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaranar, fondly remembered as Kappal Ottiya Thamizhan. Chidambaranar, who founded the Swadeshi Steam Navigation Company, played a pivotal role in India’s struggle for maritime self-reliance during the independence movement.
