RWE has confirmed the completion of the divestment of its 33.33% share in the Five Estuaries Offshore Wind Farm to fellow power generator ED.
The agreement was completed for the transfer of RWE's stake to EDF power solutions UK and Ireland. As a result of the sale, EDF will take over responsibility for leading the project on behalf of the joint venture partners.
Divestment Finalized
RWE will continue to work with the project in the short term to support the transition to the new owners. The company plans to reinvest the proceeds into its existing portfolio of consented offshore projects.
A spokesperson for RWE said, "The priority of the Five Estuaries project is to progress its transition from development into construction and ultimately operation. We're delighted that EDF, with its long-standing commitment to delivering UK renewables, is committed to maintaining the pace of the project's ambitions, and we look forward to seeing it come to fruition in the months and years to come."

RWE's Wider Offshore Wind Strategy
RWE is one of the world's leading offshore wind companies and was the biggest winner in last year's UK Contracts for Difference (CfD) Allocation Round 7 (AR7) for offshore wind, winning awards for five offshore projects amounting to a combined installed capacity of 6.9 gigawatts (GW). RWE has a large pipeline of attractive development projects, and overall the company intends to expand its offshore wind capacity by a net 5 GW by 2031.
