The change of ownership of the Alpha Ventus offshore wind farm was finalised on 9 October 2026, with Ocean Breeze Energy (OBE) beginning to implement the continued operation of Germany's first offshore wind farm.
With the transaction completed, the management of OBE now also forms the management of Deutsche Offshore-Testfeld und Infrastruktur GmbH & Co. KG (DOTI), the holding company for the North Sea wind farm.
Ownership Change Finalised
Jean Huby, Managing Director of Ocean Breeze Energy and DOTI, thanked the previous owners: "We would like to thank EWE, RWE and Vattenfall for ensuring the transaction went smoothly, and all our partners who supported us in executing the process of acquisition of Alpha Ventus. We are now looking forward to the challenge of utilising the existing infrastructure for as long as possible to generate North Sea electricity, in order to drive the energy transition forward as effectively as possible."

Integration into OBE's Operations
Now that OBE has taken over the holding company, the company says its top priority is to ensure the continued operation of alpha ventus and to integrate the project into OBE's existing processes as a specialist offshore wind farm operator.
With Alpha Ventus, twelve 5-megawatt offshore wind turbines and a substation have been added to the Bard Offshore 1 wind farms and the prototype turbines at Rysumer Nacken. OBE currently operates 94 wind turbines and two substations.
According to the company, the completion of the deal is the result of months of intensive collaboration with the previous consortium of owners, both internally and with partners from all the companies involved. Ocean Breeze Energy will commence work at the alpha ventus offshore wind farm and will now focus on its ongoing operation.

Stay Wired Into Germany's Power Project Pipeline Before the Grid Moves On
How many megawatts of new capacity will Germany add this year, and how much of that pipeline is already visible to your competitors? In a sector where transmission upgrades, renewable integrations, and gas-fired plants are announced and awarded in rapid succession, fragmented information sources leave too many teams reacting late.
The Global Project Tracking (GPT) platform by Blackridge Research consolidates Germany's power sector developments into a single intelligence layer, so business development, strategy, and market entry teams can act on verified project data rather than scattered headlines.
From early-stage announcements through final commissioning, you get a continuous view of where capital is flowing across the continent's power landscape.
