The PNE Group has completed the sale of two wind farm repowering projects in northern Germany to a small group of private investors, adding to a string of asset disposals the company has executed throughout 2026.

The Two Projects

The transaction covers the "Wulfsdorf A" wind farm in the district of Ostholstein in Schleswig-Holstein and the "Kuhstedt III" wind farm in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) in Lower Saxony. Together, the two sites carry a combined nominal capacity of 45 megawatts.

Wulfsdorf A is the larger of the pair at 24.4 MW. It will consist of two Vestas V150 turbines rated at 6.0 MW each and two Vestas V162 turbines rated at 6.2 MW each. Construction is already underway at the site, with commissioning scheduled for December 2026.

Kuhstedt III has a total capacity of 20.6 MW and will comprise two Nordex N175 turbines rated at 6.8 MW each alongside one Nordex N163 turbine rated at 7.0 MW. Construction is also in progress there, and commissioning is expected around the turn of 2026 and 2027.

Based on expected electricity generation figures, PNE states the two wind farms will together be capable of supplying the equivalent annual electricity demand of approximately 31,000 three-person households per year.

Repowering at Established Sites

Both projects are repowering developments, meaning they replace older turbines with modern, more powerful wind energy technology at sites already in use for wind energy production. PNE says this approach enables significantly higher renewable electricity generation from existing locations.

Roland Stanze, chief operating officer of PNE AG, described the transaction as a demonstration of the value that repowering can deliver. "Both projects demonstrate the value of repowering: we are making more efficient use of existing sites, deploying modern and highly efficient turbine technology, and significantly increasing renewable energy generation," Stanze said. "At the same time, the transaction underscores the attractiveness of our projects to investors."

Operational Management Retained Within PNE Group

While ownership of the two wind farms passes to the private investor group, operational management of both sites will be provided by energy consult GmbH, a company that sits within the PNE Group. The arrangement means PNE retains an ongoing operational connection to the assets following the sale.

Stanze noted that the operational management role would keep the group closely connected to the wind farms even after the disposal. Energy consult will carry out those services for both Wulfsdorf A and Kuhstedt III once each project reaches commissioning.

Part of a Broader Disposal Programme in 2026

The sale of the two German wind farms continues what PNE describes as a successful track record of project disposals during the current year. The company recently sold the Romescamps wind farm in France, which has a capacity of 10.8 MW. Prior to that, PNE completed the sale of the Bokel wind farm in Germany, which carries a capacity of 25.2 MW.

Beyond Germany and France, PNE has also sold a wind farm project in Poland with a planned total capacity of 72 MW and a solar photovoltaic project in Poland with a capacity of approximately 40 MW. The Wulfsdorf A and Kuhstedt III transaction represents the latest step in that disposal activity.

The PNE Group is headquartered in Cuxhaven and announced the transaction on 5 August 2026.
