OQ Alternative Energy and Asyad Group have signed a hydrogen offtake term sheet aimed at advancing green hydrogen deployment for mobility applications in Oman, connecting the country's emerging production capabilities with low-carbon transport solutions.
A First End-to-End Deployment for OQAE
The agreement marks OQ Alternative Energy's first end-to-end green hydrogen deployment project, covering the full value chain from renewable power integration and hydrogen production through to operations, certification, handling, and commercialization.
The project is located within the Special Economic Zone at Duqm and is expected to produce up to 400 kilograms of green hydrogen per day, with the potential to expand through a dedicated hydrogen refueling station at the same site.
Under the term sheet, Asyad Group will explore the use of green hydrogen produced through OQAE's Duqm project to support the development of hydrogen-powered mobility applications.
Both organizations have described the agreement as contributing to the foundations of a hydrogen mobility ecosystem in Oman, with the signing representing the next phase of collaboration as the two parties work to translate the term sheet into a broader deployment framework.
The project is designed to deliver value beyond hydrogen production itself. By linking production directly with end use, it is intended to generate practical insights into operations, certification, infrastructure, safety, and demand, while supporting the development of Oman's wider hydrogen economy.
Strategic National Players with a Shared Objective
OQAE and Asyad have described the collaboration as bringing together two strategic national players with a shared objective: translating Oman's growing renewable energy and green hydrogen capabilities into tangible applications that can support the decarbonization of transport and other hard-to-abate sectors, while creating a pathway towards wider commercial adoption.
The next phase of Oman's hydrogen journey is about moving from potential to practical application. This partnership with Asyad is an important step in that direction, connecting green hydrogen production with a real mobility use case and creating an opportunity to build experience across the full value chain.
At OQ Alternative Energy, they see demonstration projects such as this as essential to building the capabilities, infrastructure, and market confidence required for the hydrogen economy to scale.
By working with strategic partners such as Asyad, they can experience technologies and business models in real operating environments, generate local knowledge, and identify the conditions needed for broader adoption."
While Oman has significant potential to become a competitive producer and exporter of renewable energy and green hydrogen, developing a strong domestic market is critical to building a resilient hydrogen ecosystem.

Asyad's Role in Low-Carbon Logistics
Ahmed Al Bulushi, CEO of Asyad Drydock and Infrastructure Services, emphasized the logistics group's commitment to sustainable transport solutions and the role the partnership will play in building operational experience with hydrogen across the logistics and mobility value chain.
Decarbonizing transport requires practical solutions that can be deployed at scale and supported by a reliable energy ecosystem. Our collaboration with OQAE provides an opportunity to explore green hydrogen as part of that transition and to translate Oman's emerging hydrogen capabilities into applications across the logistics and mobility value chain.
Asyad is committed to supporting the development of more sustainable logistics solutions and to strengthening Oman's position as a globally connected logistics hub.
By participating in the development of hydrogen mobility solutions, we are helping build the operational experience, partnerships, and infrastructure needed to support the next generation of low-carbon transport in the Sultanate.
Asyad Group is a global logistics group with operations spanning multiple regions and continents, connecting trade flows through an ecosystem that includes maritime, ports, free zones, logistics, and public services.
Duqm as an Integrated Hydrogen Hub
The choice of Duqm's Special Economic Zone as the location for the project is significant. The site provides a platform to explore the integration of renewable energy, hydrogen production, and end-use applications within a single industrial and logistics ecosystem.
The project supports Oman's broader ambition to establish a competitive and sustainable hydrogen sector in line with Oman Vision 2040 and the country's net-zero targets.
OQAE, which describes itself as Oman's national champion for renewable energy, has a mandate spanning decarbonization advisory, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green hydrogen development.
The Duqm project represents a tangible step in operationalizing that mandate, with the organization positioning demonstration-scale projects as essential building blocks for the broader hydrogen economy.
The signing took place in Salalah, Oman. Both organizations indicated that the next steps will involve translating the term sheet into a concrete deployment framework, building the technical, operational, and commercial experience needed to support future projects, and strengthening the foundations of Oman's emerging hydrogen sector.
