Nvidia and Malaysian conglomerate YTL Power will collaborate to invest USD 4.3 billion in artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure in Malaysia.The joint venture will build Malaysia’s fastest supercomputers using Nvidia AI chips. YTL Power will use Nvidia’s AI cloud computing platform to build a large language model. The project will be hosted at YTL’s data center park in Kulai, Johor. YTL expects the first phase to become operational by mid-2024.

The collaboration will strengthen the rapidly expanding artificial intelligence ecosystem in Southeast Asia and further Malaysia's aspirations as a leading producer of semiconductors. In recent years, multinational semiconductor corporations, including Intel and Infineon, have invested significantly in semiconductor projects in Malaysia.

Recently, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang mentioned during his Japan visit that Nvidia will build multiple AI factories in Japan. Nvidia wanted to boost the AI ecosystem across the Asia-Pacific region.
