NTT and Tepco Power Grid Join Hands to Develop Data Centers in Tokyo, Japan

A joint venture between NTT Global Data Centers Japan and Tepco Power Grid will develop colocation facilities in Tokyo, Japan. The first phase of the project will have a total IT capacity of 50 MW. Furthermore, the data center facility will be developed in the Inzai-Shiroi area of Greater Tokyo.

Over the next five years, NTT GDCJ's parent company, NTT GDC, has pledged to invest approximately USD 12 billion in expanding and modernizing its data center operations worldwide. NTT operates data centers in twenty countries spanning North America, Asia Pacific, EMEA, and India, with a combined IT capacity of over 1.5 GW.

The two companies are working together to develop smart grid solutions that can improve the efficiency and reliability of the power grid. This includes projects such as the deployment of smart meters, advanced grid management systems, and microgrids.
