The Nordex Group has received an order from Swedish renewable energy developer OX2 for the supply and installation of 11 N175/6.X turbines at the Urleasca wind farm in Romania, bringing the project's total installed capacity to 77 megawatts. The contract, announced on August 3, 2026, also includes a 35-year Premium Service agreement.

Project Structure and Ownership

The transaction involves multiple parties across the Scandinavian renewable energy sector. OX2 placed the turbine order with Nordex while simultaneously selling the ready-to-build Urleasca wind farm to Norwegian renewable energy solutions provider Scatec ASA. Despite the sale, OX2 remains contracted to oversee the entire construction phase of the project. Construction is scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2026, with commissioning planned for the second half of 2028.

The Urleasca wind farm holds a long-term Contract-for-Difference with the Romanian State, providing a pricing mechanism designed to support revenue stability for the project over its operational life.

Location and Technical Details

The wind farm will be located near the village of Urleasca in Brăila County, approximately 150 kilometers northeast of Bucharest in southeastern Romania. The project will deploy 11 of Nordex's N175/6.X turbines, which sit within the company's product portfolio focused on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 megawatt-plus class.

Nordex describes these machines as designed to meet the requirements of markets characterized by limited available space and constrained grid capacity.

Nordex's Growing Footprint in Romania

The Urleasca project adds to what has become a substantial recent run of business for Nordex in Romania. According to the company, it has contracted more than 500 megawatts in the country over the past several months, and the Urleasca order is described as further strengthening its position in the Romanian market.

The company's total portfolio, spanning development, construction, asset management, and operations, amounts to approximately 33 gigawatts. OX2 is present in five European markets as well as Australia, employs around 500 people, and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. The company is owned by EQT, a global private equity investor.

The Urleasca transaction marks another instance of OX2's established model of developing projects to a ready-to-build stage before divesting them to longer-term infrastructure investors, while retaining a construction management role.
