Nextpower has completed its acquisition of the power conversion assets of Zigor Corporation ( power electronics technology company) and its U.S.-based subsidiary, Apex Power, the Fremont, California-based renewable energy technology company announced, adding proprietary inverter technology, established supply chain capabilities, and an engineering team with combined experience spanning hundreds of years in power conversion.

Deal Adds Inverter Technology and Global Engineering Talent

The transaction brings into Nextpower's portfolio UL-certified central inverters intended for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects in the United States, along with IEC-certified products designed for European and international markets. The acquired assets also include supply chain infrastructure and engineering personnel based in the United States and Spain.

Dan Shugar, founder and chief executive officer of Nextpower, which trades on Nasdaq under the ticker NXT, said reliable power conversion is fundamental to modern energy infrastructure and that customers are looking for solutions built for long-term reliability and serviceability at utility scale.

Shugar described the incoming team as highly experienced and the technology as market-ready and engineered for superior reliability and availability, attributes he said are consistent with Nextpower's track record in project execution and long-term performance optimization.

Jacob Marshall, vice president and general manager for power conversion at Nextpower, said UL certification is an important step toward bringing the company's power conversion solutions to U.S. customers at scale.

Marshall said the central inverter platform was designed around the needs of utility-scale owners and engineering, procurement, and construction firms, with a modular architecture intended to simplify maintenance, reduce downtime, and support long-term performance.

Field Serviceability as a Design Priority

Nextpower positioned the acquired inverter platform as a departure from what it described as conventional inverter architectures that often require specialized tools or factory repairs.

The company said its modular platform was designed around field serviceability, with field-replaceable power modules that use standard components and tools.

The intent, according to Marshall, is to give system owners more flexibility and control over maintenance and repair throughout the operational life of a system, helping restore systems more quickly and maximize uptime over the long term.

The power conversion product portfolio includes central inverter solutions and modular configurations scaling up to 5.2 MVA, designed for utility-scale solar and energy storage applications. The platform communicates exclusively through a hard-wired, cyber-secure site-level optical fiber network, according to the company.

U.S. Manufacturing Buildout Underway

Nextpower said it is accelerating a U.S. manufacturing buildout across multiple locations. The company said deliveries are expected to begin ramping in early 2027 and that it anticipates more than 10 gigawatts of manufacturing capacity will be online within twelve months of the announcement.

The company did not disclose the specific locations of the manufacturing facilities it is developing or the financial terms of the acquisition of the Zigor and Apex Power assets.

Strategic Context for the Acquisition

Nextpower described itself as a provider of integrated technology solutions for modern energy infrastructure, with solar and energy storage platforms aimed at helping customers design, build, and operate utility-scale power plants and other critical power applications.

The company said its work spans more than a decade of energy technology and market leadership and that it partners with customers globally to scale the deployment of what it called reliable firm power.

The acquisition of Zigor Corporation's power conversion business and the Apex Power subsidiary extends Nextpower's platform into the power conversion segment, which the company framed as a complementary addition to its existing solar and energy storage technology offerings. The company said the central inverters acquired through the transaction are now commercially available in the U.S. market with full UL certification in place.
