Neoenergia and Nexus Ligas have announced a partnership agreement that will make Brazil's main manganese alloy producer a partner in the Canoas 3 wind generation unit, part of the Neoenergia Chafariz wind complex located in Paraíba state. The self-production energy contract will be valid for 10 years and guarantees Nexus access to renewable energy to meet 27% of its current demand.

Partnership Details and Energy Capacity

Under the self-production energy modality, the purchase and sale contract provides Nexus Ligas with access to 15MWm of renewable energy produced by the wind farm, according to the Neoenergia source. However, the Iberdrola source states that Nexus secures access to 31 MW of renewable energy. The operation received approval from the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) in June this year.

The Neoenergia Chafariz wind complex is part of the Neoenergia Renewable Complex, which has an installed capacity of 471.25 MW. This capacity is sufficient to produce energy to supply 1.3 million homes per year.

The new agreement advances Nexus Ligas' commitment to have its assets supplied by renewable energy sources to reduce or offset the organization's greenhouse gas emissions by 2035.
