Natural Power (renewable energy) has secured a new contract with ScottishPower Renewables to provide operations and maintenance services across five onshore wind farms in southern Scotland, expanding a relationship that has already seen the Dumfries and Galloway-based company working at one of the sites.

Scope of the Contract

Under the five-year agreement, Natural Power will deliver operations and maintenance services at Ewe Hill 1, Ewe Hill 2, Hagshaw Hill 2 and Wether Hill. Alongside these new sites, the company's existing contract at Black Law Windfarm has also been extended as part of the same arrangement.

The contract forms part of ScottishPower Renewables' latest operations and maintenance framework, which represents a record investment of £102.9 million in the UK's onshore wind supply chain.

ScottishPower Renewables has positioned the framework as a demonstration of the role that local businesses play in supporting the country's clean energy infrastructure.

New Roles Created Across Two Locations

To support the delivery of the contract, Natural Power has expanded its operational teams at two sites in Scotland. The company has employed an additional 23 dedicated staff across its Dumfries and Lanark operations, combining newly hired employees with staff who transferred into the business under TUPE arrangements.

The project team based in Dumfries comprises ten employees, including wind turbine technicians, a lead technician, and a logistics coordinator. In Lanark, Natural Power has assembled a team of 13 employees, which includes newly created leadership positions designed to support both contract delivery and future growth.

Matthew Kelly, Natural Power's Director of Operations and Asset Management, said the expansion reflects confidence in the company's people and technical capability.

"We've invested in expanding our teams in both Dumfries and Lanark to support the contract, creating new opportunities for skilled engineers and strengthening our operational capability for the future," he said.

A Long-Standing Regional Presence

Natural Power described itself as headquartered in south-west Scotland and noted that its regional positioning was central to winning the work. Kelly said the company was particularly proud that the investment supports skilled jobs within local communities while helping maintain the operation of renewable energy assets contributing to Scotland's clean energy goals.

The company has been providing technical and operational services to the renewable energy sector for close to three decades, working across wind, solar and battery storage assets in the UK and internationally. The latest award adds to its existing operations and maintenance portfolio.

Investment in Scotland's Onshore Wind Sector

The contract announcement comes as Scotland continues to develop its onshore wind capacity, with established wind farms such as those covered by this agreement playing an ongoing role in the country's energy generation. Natural Power framed the contract as evidence of its continued commitment to developing skilled employment in Scotland and to providing locally based teams for critical renewable energy infrastructure.

Kelly said the company looks forward to continuing to work closely with ScottishPower Renewables and supporting the production of reliable, clean energy from the portfolio of sites covered under the new framework.
