Nala Renewables (a global renewable energy platform) has completed the sale of its 80% shareholding in Wayu Energy Pte. Ltd. (renewable energy investment platform) to Kaffee Energy Limited (energy investment and holding company), marking a significant strategic realignment for the London-headquartered renewable energy company as it narrows its investment and development focus to Europe and Chile.

A Clean Exit from Southeast Asia

The transaction, announced on July 28, 2026, brings to a close Nala Renewables' involvement in Wayu Energy, a Southeast Asia-based renewable energy platform with operations spanning Vietnam and the Philippines. The sale transfers the majority ownership of that platform entirely to Kaffee Energy Limited, though the precise financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Remy Verot, who has served as Interim Chief Executive Officer of Nala Renewables since December 2025, addressed the significance of the move. "The divestment of our projects in Vietnam and the Philippines signals an exciting next step for Nala Renewables, allowing us to focus our deep renewable expertise on the clean energy transition in Europe and Chile," he said.

Verot also acknowledged the outgoing partnership, expressing gratitude to Wayu's management team for their work during the collaboration and wishing Kaffee Energy success in taking the platform forward.

Strategy Reoriented Around Europe and Chile

Nala Renewables has stated that the divestment is directly aligned with a deliberate strategic pivot. The company says it is concentrating its investment and development activities on Europe and Chile, where it describes itself as rapidly expanding its presence.

According to the company, its work across those regions encompasses the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy generation and energy storage projects across the full project life cycle.

The company's portfolio in those target markets includes solar photovoltaic installations, onshore wind projects, and battery energy storage systems. Nala has stated that it continues to scale this portfolio through a combination of in-house development, strategic partnerships, and selective acquisitions.

Recent Activity Points to Accelerating European Buildout

The sale of Wayu Energy comes amid a period of notable activity for Nala Renewables in its priority markets. In November 2025, the company announced it had begun construction of a 50-megawatt, 100-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system project in Finland, developed in partnership with Sungrow and KSBR. That project reflects the company's stated commitment to energy storage as a core component of its European strategy.

Earlier this year, in April 2026, funds managed by IFM Investors agreed to acquire full ownership of Nala Renewables, a transaction that represents a significant shift in the company's ownership structure. The completion of the Wayu Energy sale follows that agreement and further signals the direction Nala's backers intend to take the business.

Leadership Transition Running in Parallel

Verot's appointment as Interim CEO was announced in December 2025, meaning he has been steering the company through this period of strategic consolidation and geographic refocusing since late last year.

His statement on the Wayu Energy transaction underscores the forward-looking posture the company is adopting, framing the Southeast Asia exit not as a retreat but as a deliberate reallocation of expertise and capital toward markets where the company sees its strongest growth trajectory.

Kaffee Energy Takes the Helm in Southeast Asia

With the transaction now complete, Kaffee Energy Limited assumes control of the Wayu Energy platform and its projects across Vietnam and the Philippines. Nala Renewables has not provided further detail on Kaffee Energy's plans for the platform or the nature of the buyer beyond its name and role in the transaction.

Wayu Energy Pte. Ltd. is incorporated as a Singapore-based entity, consistent with the common regional hub structure used by renewable energy developers operating across Southeast Asian markets.

Nala's Footprint and Forward Trajectory

Nala Renewables describes itself as a global renewable energy company headquartered in London. Its core activities cover the ownership, development, construction, and management of solar PV, onshore wind, and energy storage assets. With the Southeast Asia chapter now formally closed, the company's stated geographic focus is unambiguously centered on Europe and Chile.

The flurry of corporate activity over the past year, including the IFM Investors acquisition agreement, the leadership appointment, the Finnish battery storage construction start, and now the Wayu Energy divestment, paints a picture of a company in active transition, streamlining its portfolio and ownership structure ahead of what it characterizes as a period of rapid expansion in its chosen markets.
