Micron in a press release stated that The investment will be executed in two phases. Phase 1 includes the construction of the new DRAM and NAND assembly and testing facility in Gujarat. The facility will have around 500,000 square feet of cleanroom space. Furthermore, the factory is set to commence its operations by late 2024. Phase 2 of the project will include the construction of a facility.

Micron will invest around USD 825 million for phase 1 and phase 2 while the state government incentives will back the rest of the funding. Micron picked Sanand Industrial Park due to its well-established manufacturing infrastructure. The facility in Gujarat will focus on transforming wafers into ball grid array integrated circuit packages, memory modules, and solid-state drives. The facility will enable the assembly, testing, and manufacturing of DRAM and NAND products.
