LG CNS (064400, CEO Hyun Shin-kyun) has become the first Korean company to complete the construction of an AI data center overseas, finishing a 30MW-class hyperscale facility in Jakarta, Indonesia.
According to the company, it is the first case of a Korean firm directly building an AI data center on-site for a foreign customer. LG CNS said it has also secured customers for the facility's entire capacity ahead of completion.
A Project Commissioned by the KMG Joint Venture
The project was commissioned last year by KMG, a joint venture between Indonesia's Sinarmas Group and Korea Investment Real Assets Management. LG CNS said the build demonstrates, in an overseas market, the design, build and operate (DBO) capabilities it has accumulated for AI data centers in Korea.
The company designed and built the facility as scalable infrastructure capable of reliably supporting high-performance computing based on next-generation GPUs. CEO Hyun Shin-kyun attended the completion ceremony for the Jakarta AI data center on the 1st, where he was photographed with attendees.
Hybrid Cooling for High-Density GPU Environments
Given the heat output of AI servers, LG CNS adopted a hybrid cooling structure that combines air cooling with liquid cooling. For this first phase of construction, the company applied an air-cooling system that lowers internal temperature by circulating air.
In subsequent phases, it plans to add a liquid cooling system that controls GPU heat more efficiently, providing cooling infrastructure optimized for high-density AI server environments.

Power Systems Built for 300kW-Plus Racks
LG CNS also built a power system designed to handle high-density environments of more than 300kW per rack. The company said this is roughly 60 times the amount of power required by a single rack in a typical data center, and enables stable power delivery to AI computing resources that mount numerous GPUs in a single rack.
The power infrastructure is also redundant, so that if the main power supply is interrupted, backup power allows the facility to operate stably around the clock, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The "One LG" Integrated Solution
The project applied what LG calls its "One LG" integrated solution. Centered on LG CNS's DBO capabilities, the company brought together core capabilities from across the group, including LG Electronics' air conditioning systems and LG Energy Solution's batteries, to deliver integrated power, cooling and energy infrastructure.
LG CNS said this allowed it to realize group-level integrated capabilities in an overseas AI infrastructure build, and that it has secured a reference on which to expand its global AI data center business using the "One LG" solution.
Follow-On Phases Targeting 400MW
LG CNS is currently working on the design for subsequent phases of construction. Once those phases are complete, the facility's total power receiving capacity is slated to expand to 400MW, positioning it as a large-scale AI data center representing Indonesia.
Expansion Across Asia-Pacific
Building on the overseas construction experience and customer references gained from the Indonesian project, LG CNS plans to pursue expansion of its AI data center business in other Asia-Pacific markets, including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Japan.
The company said this will strengthen its competitiveness in the global AI data center business and allow it to respond actively to growing demand for AI infrastructure.
Broader Data Center Portfolio at Home
LG CNS describes itself as Korea's top data center operator. Alongside its overseas expansion, it said it continues to grow data center revenue in Korea by introducing a range of business models.
It has broadened its portfolio to include colocation and DBO, as well as prefabricated modular data centers that support rapid AI data center construction, GPUaaS, which provides GPUs on a subscription basis, and liquid cooling infrastructure construction. Building on this, the company plans to expand into an AI factory business that links AI platforms and services.
Management Comments
CEO Hyun Shin-kyun said: "Completing the Indonesian AI data center is a meaningful achievement in which LG CNS provided data center capabilities accumulated in Korea to an overseas customer and proved its business competitiveness in the global market."
He added: "Using this as a bridgehead, we will expand our AI data center and AI factory business in global markets, including Asia-Pacific, where demand for AI computing is surging."
Mapping Every Megawatt: Winning the Next Wave of Indonesia Data Center Builds
Where will the next hyperscale campus break ground across Indonesia, and who is already positioned to supply it? As cloud adoption, AI workloads, and sovereign data requirements push capacity demand higher, the gap between teams that spot projects early and those that hear about them late is widening quickly.
Data center development in Indonesia moves across dozens of markets, each with its own regulatory pace, power constraints, and procurement cycles. Tracking these opportunities manually means fragmented sources, delayed signals, and missed bid windows.
The Global Project Tracking (GPT) platform by Blackridge Research gives investors, contractors, equipment suppliers, and consultants a single, verified view of the data center project pipeline. Instead of piecing together scattered announcements, you can follow each project from first signal to final handover and focus your resources where the revenue is.
