The National Highways Authority of India has put out a call for bids to construct a six-lane greenfield Ring Road (Package-III) around Kanpur city in Uttar Pradesh on an EPC contract model. The 93.2 Km project involves building a six-lane greenfield Ring Road (Package-III) encircling Kanpur city and constructing a four-lane airport link road to connect with the Kanpur ring road.
Type of Project - National Highway (New)
Project cost - USD 1.15 billion (INR 9482.79 Cr.)
Project Length - 93.209 km.
Estimated Completion - 2025
The primary goal of the highway development plan is to alleviate the mounting traffic within the city. Once completed, the proposed highway will serve as the main conduit for economic activity in the region. This will promote economic growth, generate employment opportunities for local residents, bolster tourism, ensure road safety, and provide superior transportation infrastructure and roadside amenities. In addition, the road's improved quality will result in lower vehicle operating costs. To further enhance the area's environmental quality and appearance, compensatory and roadside plantations will be established.
The project will be completed in five phases with a deadline in 2025. The ring road will connect to the new Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway and pass through Sachendi, Ramaipur, Rooma, Chakeri Airport, Trans Ganga City, and Mandhana.
