Greenvolt Power has secured USD 317.68 million in project financing for its 253.1 MW wind project in Gurbănești, located east of Bucharest, Romania.
Eight-Bank Syndicate Backs One of Romania's Largest Wind Projects
The financing was structured with a syndicate of eight financial institutions: UniCredit S.p.A., Erste Group Bank AG, Banca Comercială Română S.A., Siemens Financial Services through Siemens Bank, Société Générale, BRD, ING Bank N.V., and Alpha Bank S.A.
The project is now under construction and is expected to reach commercial operation by the end of 2027. Once complete, it will be one of the largest wind projects in the country, comprising 42 wind turbines with a capacity of 6.1 MW each.
According to the company, the wind farm will add significant new renewable generation capacity and contribute to the decarbonisation of Romania's power system.
Part of the Broader Wind Rose Platform
The Gurbănești wind farm is part of the broader Wind Rose platform, a 506 MW initiative described by the company as one of the country's most significant private renewable energy projects currently in progress. The platform also includes the 253.1 MW Ialomița wind project.

Company Leadership on the Financing
João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group, said Romania is an important market for the company, where it sees strong long-term potential, and that its investment in the country reflects that view.
He noted that wind has been a particular focus but that the company's presence extends across technologies and business segments, including on-site renewable energy solutions for corporate and industrial clients.
Adrian Góralski, Director of M&A and Project Finance at Greenvolt Power, said the company's ability to advance projects at this scale is supported by strong relationships with financial partners who understand its business and the quality assets it is developing.
He described the financing as another example of that collaboration, reflecting the company's ability to find the right financing solutions for its projects.
Romanian Pipeline and Distributed Generation Activities
Greenvolt Group, through Greenvolt Power, is a developer of utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects. In Romania, the Group holds a significant utility-scale pipeline comprising 707 MW of wind, 58 MW of solar, and 209 MW of battery energy storage projects.
The Group is also active in the distributed generation segment through Greenvolt Next, which provides on-site renewable energy solutions for corporate and industrial clients.
