GODI India Announces $1 Billion Lithium-Sodium Battery Giga-Factory in Telangana

GODI India Private Limited will establish a lithium and sodium-related R&D and giga-scale battery manufacturing facility in Telangana. The firm will invest around USD 1 billion to establish the facility. GODI India and the Telangana government signed an MoU during the World Economic Forum.

The project will generate around 6,000 job opportunities in the first phase, spread over five years. The project will have a 2.5 Gwh cell assembly line in the first phase, which will be further expanded to 10 Gwh in the second phase.

GODI India is a homegrown company that focuses on energy storage solutions. They have already developed prototype lithium-ion cells for their pilot production line. This project is a significant step towards establishing India's domestic lithium-ion battery manufacturing capacity, which is crucial for the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage sectors. 

The Telangana government is actively promoting the adoption of EVs and establishing a comprehensive EV ecosystem in the state. The GODI India project aligns with these goals.
