Eurowind Energy (renewable energy company) has finalised its purchase of EnBW's Swedish renewable energy business, bringing approximately 120 megawatts of operating onshore wind capacity, a development project portfolio and an established operations and maintenance business under its ownership.

Deal Background and Regulatory Clearance

The agreement between Eurowind Energy and German utility EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG was first announced on 13 July 2026. Completion of the transaction was contingent on approval under Sweden's foreign direct investment screening regime, a regulatory process that scrutinises overseas purchases of assets deemed strategically significant. Following that clearance, EnBW's Swedish activities have now been formally transferred to Eurowind Energy.

EnBW, which employs around 31,500 people and supplies energy to approximately 5.5 million customers across all stages of the value chain, has been repositioning itself as a sustainable infrastructure partner.

The German company has stated that its growth strategy and investments are focused on expanding distribution and transmission grids for electricity, gas, and hydrogen, as well as further developing renewable energy capacity. The disposal of the Swedish platform is consistent with that strategic direction.

What the Platform Comprises

The acquired business brings three distinct components into Eurowind Energy's portfolio. The first is the operating onshore wind capacity of approximately 120 megawatts, which Eurowind Energy says adds renewable generation from the point of completion.

The second is a substantial portfolio of renewable energy projects currently under development, which the company says strengthens its ability to build additional projects in Sweden in the years ahead. The third is an established operations and maintenance business that was already serving assets in the Swedish market.

Eurowind Energy describes the combination of generation, development, and service functions as creating a vertically integrated presence in Sweden that spans the full project lifecycle.

Integration with Existing Service Operations

Eurowind Energy noted that it is already active in the Danish wind turbine service market through Connected Wind Services Danmark A/S, a company it owns. The Swedish operations and maintenance business acquired from EnBW will be run in close cooperation with that Danish entity. The company said it sees considerable potential to develop its service offering further across both markets as a result of the combined capabilities.
