European Energy has obtained permits for six wind energy projects with a combined capacity of approximately 145 MW in Germany, marking a significant expansion of the Copenhagen-based developer's pipeline of mature renewable assets in one of Europe's leading wind markets.
Permits Granted Under the Federal Immission Control Act
The permits were granted under the German Federal Immission Control Act, known in Germany as the Bundes-Immissionsschutzgesetz or BImSchG. The approved projects are distributed across three federal states: Lower Saxony, Brandenburg, and Saxony-Anhalt. European Energy announced the development on 7 July 2026 from its headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The company described the permitting milestone as a transformative stage in the lifecycle of renewable energy projects, moving the six developments towards participation in renewable energy auctions, financing arrangements and eventual construction. The permits were secured within a short period, according to the company, with all six projects reaching this stage in close succession.
Strategic Significance of the Permitting Stage
Johannes Thon, Managing Director of European Energy Germany, framed the permits as the product of sustained development work that now positions the projects as mature, investable assets.
"Securing permits is one of the most important milestones in renewable energy project development. It transforms years of development work into mature assets that can progress towards financing, construction, and long-term ownership or strategic partnerships," Thon said.
Thon added that the pace at which the six permits were secured reflects the capabilities of the company's development platform in Germany.
"The fact that six projects received permits within such a short period reflects both the strength of our development platform and the quality of the portfolio we continue to build in Germany. Each permit increases the value and maturity of our pipeline while expanding the range of opportunities available to investors seeking high-quality renewable energy assets."

Capital Recycling and Investor Positioning
The newly permitted projects are intended to support European Energy's broader strategy of generating value through project development before progressing assets towards financing, strategic partnerships, and what the company refers to as capital recycling.
The approach involves advancing projects to a mature stage and then either retaining them for long-term ownership or making them available for future transactions with infrastructure investors, utilities, and independent power producers.
Thorvald Spanggaard, Executive Vice President and Head of Project Development at European Energy, described Germany as one of the company's most strategically important markets and pointed to the role that permitting plays in maintaining the company's ability to redeploy capital into new developments.
"Germany remains one of our most important markets, and continuing to advance projects through permitting strengthens our ability to recycle capital into new developments while delivering investment-ready assets that meet growing demand from infrastructure investors, utilities and independent power producers," Spanggaard said.
He also emphasised the foundational role of project development quality in building a competitive portfolio. "A strong portfolio starts with high-quality project development. Every permit increases the maturity of our pipeline and expands the range of opportunities we can offer investors looking for large-scale renewable energy assets in Europe."
Germany as a Core Development Market
The announcement adds to European Energy's existing German wind development portfolio, which the company has continued to build out as demand for investment-ready renewable energy assets grows across Europe.
The six newly permitted projects represent a meaningful addition to that portfolio, with the 145 MW of combined capacity positioned to move through the next stages of development, including auction participation, project financing and construction planning.
Germany has long been considered one of the most significant renewable energy markets on the continent, and the company's ability to secure permits across multiple federal states simultaneously points to an active development pipeline operating in parallel across different regulatory jurisdictions within the country.
The three states in which the projects are located, Lower Saxony, Brandenburg, and Saxony-Anhalt, are all established wind energy regions in Germany. Lower Saxony is situated in the northwest of the country, while Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt are located in the east, areas that have seen considerable wind energy development activity in recent years.
Pipeline Expansion and Future Transactions
European Energy indicated that as the six projects advance through subsequent development stages, they will augment the company's supply of investment-ready assets available for long-term ownership arrangements or future commercial transactions.
The company positioned the permits as increasing not only the scale of its German pipeline but also the range of structuring options available when engaging with prospective partners and investors.
The permits granted under the BImSchG are a legally required step in Germany before wind energy projects can proceed to construction, making their acquisition a prerequisite for any further commercial or financial progress.
By securing this regulatory approval across six projects in a concentrated timeframe, European Energy has moved a substantial block of development capacity closer to the point at which it can generate returns through either direct operation or asset transactions.
