Envision Energy has completed the first turbine installation at the 128 MW Vinh Long nearshore wind project in Vietnam, marking what the company describes as the first installation milestone for its first international offshore wind project.
First International Offshore Milestone
The turbine installed at Vinh Long is the EN-226/8.X MW model, a large-rotor, high-capacity machine that Envision is deploying across all 16 units planned for the site.
The company announced the achievement via LinkedIn, describing the moment as a significant step in its expansion beyond domestic markets into international offshore and nearshore wind development.
Vinh Long represents Envision's first international offshore wind project, making the installation a landmark event for the Chinese turbine manufacturer as it pursues growth across Southeast Asia.
The project has moved at a notably rapid pace since its inception. According to Envision, only five months elapsed between contract signing and first equipment delivery at the site.
Once installation operations began, the first turbine was erected in under seven days, and the second followed in under five days, demonstrating an accelerating installation rhythm as the crew gained experience on site.
Challenging Conditions on the Vietnam Coast
The speed of installation is particularly notable given the environmental conditions the project team encountered. Envision stated that the work took place during Vietnam's season of heavy rainfall and strong winds, with the team also contending with typhoons during the execution phase.
The company credited both the design characteristics of the EN-226 turbine and the performance of its on-the-ground team for maintaining the delivery schedule despite those obstacles.
Envision described the EN-226 as featuring a lighter, maintenance-friendly design specifically suited to complex nearshore conditions. The company said this fit-for-site technology supports more efficient installation processes as well as reliable lifecycle operations once the turbines are running.
The combination of turbine design and local execution capability was cited as central to keeping the project on track amid tight timelines and limited installation resources available in the market.

Full-Scale Installation Now Underway
With the first unit now in place, Envision confirmed that full-scale installation across the remaining turbines is underway. All 16 turbines at the Vinh Long project are expected to be completed in rapid succession, according to the company's announcement. The total project capacity stands at 128 MW.
Envision framed the Vinh Long project not only as a standalone achievement but as a template for broader deployment across the region. The company stated that milestones like Vinh Long are intended to build scalable momentum for cleaner and more competitive energy across Vietnam and Southeast Asia, with large-rotor, high-capacity wind development positioned as the vehicle for that expansion.
Strategic Significance for Southeast Asia Expansion
The Vinh Long project sits at the intersection of several dynamics shaping wind energy development in Southeast Asia. Vietnam has been one of the more active markets in the region for wind investment, and nearshore projects occupy a middle ground between onshore development and fully offshore installations, presenting their own distinct technical and logistical challenges related to marine conditions, installation vessel availability, and grid connection.
Envision's entry into the international offshore segment with this project signals the company's intent to compete beyond its established position in China's domestic wind market. The rapid timeline from contract to first installation, achieved despite adverse weather and constrained resources, is being used by the company to demonstrate execution capability that can be replicated at future projects across the region.
The EN-226 turbine at the center of the Vinh Long deployment represents the large-rotor category that has become increasingly standard in competitive offshore and nearshore wind markets, where maximizing energy capture per unit drives down the levelized cost of energy and strengthens project economics. Envision's deployment of this model in Vietnam positions it within that broader industry trend toward fewer, larger machines generating higher per-turbine output.
With 16 turbines planned and installation now in full swing following the successful commissioning of the first two units, the Vinh Long project is expected to reach completion in the near term, at which point Envision will have its first operating international offshore wind installation on record.
