Calgary-based Enerflex Ltd. (TSX: EFX) (NYSE: EFXT) announced on October 13, 2026, that it has been awarded a major Engineered Systems project under which the company will design, engineer, fabricate, and assemble over one gigawatt of low-emission behind-the-meter natural gas-fired power generation units for a large-scale North American data center development.

The award marks a significant addition to the company's order book. Combined with additional project awards, including approximately 450 megawatts announced on October 1, 2026, Enerflex's backlog of behind-the-meter natural gas-fired power generation now exceeds 1.75 gigawatts, with deliveries extending through 2028.

Execution Through North American Manufacturing Operations

According to the company, the projects will be executed through Enerflex's North American manufacturing operations. The company said the scale of the new award, together with its existing backlog and expected growth across its core markets, is driving investment in expanding the capabilities of its Engineered Systems business line.

As previously announced, Enerflex has authorized approximately USD 100 million of investments in its Engineered Systems facilities and capabilities, USD 15 million of which is included in the company's capital expenditure guidance for 2026.

Enerflex stated that these investments, combined with ongoing initiatives to enhance collaboration, leverage scale, improve operational efficiency, and solidify capabilities, are expected to significantly increase the revenue capacity of its Engineered Systems business line.

Management Commentary on Demand for Prime Power

Paul Mahoney, Enerflex's President and Chief Executive Officer, addressed the drivers behind the award in the company's release. "The demand for reliable, prime power that does not require grid connection, supporting artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure development, continues to grow," Mahoney said.

Mahoney pointed to the size of the backlog as evidence of the company's positioning. "Our success securing over 1.75 gigawatts of backlog highlights Enerflex's unique capabilities in providing an integrated design, engineering, full-scale fabrication, and project execution solutions for behind-the-meter power generation projects," he said.

He also thanked the company's client partners for their support and trust in executing the projects, and said Enerflex looks forward to continuing to convert its opportunity pipeline into "meaningful greenfield expansion and after-market, digital, and maintenance services."

Lifecycle Services Beyond the Initial Equipment Scope

Beyond the initial equipment scope of the contracts, Enerflex identified follow-on opportunities tied to its growing backlog. The company said the backlog of low-emission behind-the-meter natural gas-fired power generation units provides opportunities for future commissioning, installation, and after-market services support, including digital solutions delivered through Enerflex's ReliaCore Asset Performance Management ecosystem.

The company noted that these opportunities align with its commercial initiatives to support the full lifecycle requirements of behind-the-meter power generation development. The ReliaCore ecosystem was described in the release as part of Enerflex's digital solutions offering connected to the after-market services opportunity.
