Chhattisgarh Government Starts the Construction of ₹1000 crore AI-Based Data Centre Park
The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, has inaugurated a ₹1000 crore AI-based data centre park in Raipur on May 4, 2025, which will focus solely on AI services and create employment opportunities. The park, developed on 13.5 acres of land, will have an initial capacity of 80 MW in the first phase and expand to 150 MW, with a potential additional investment of INR 2000 crore. This project is expected to create around 500 direct and 1500 indirect employment opportunities, benefiting students and farmers in rural areas through advanced AI solutions.
The data centre park will provide services in AI, Health Tech, Defence, Fintech, and Data Analytics, and will also have GPU-based high-end computing infrastructure, recording, live data streaming, and AI processing facilities. The state government believes that AI technology can help farmers with smart farming, accurate weather information, and crop management, making it a significant development for the agriculture sector. The park will also handle national and global data traffic, helping to speed up government services while the government pushes for a digitally self-reliant state.
At the inauguration, CM Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that Chhattisgarh could become the heartbeat of digital India, with the data centre park serving as the digital backbone for a new era of growth and empowerment. The project is managed by Rack Bank Data Centres and is being developed on a special economic zone of 2.7 hectares. The government's investment in this project is a significant step towards promoting digital growth and development in the state.
The data centre park is expected to provide advanced AI solutions to various sectors, including education and healthcare, which will benefit the people of Chhattisgarh. The use of AI technology in these sectors is expected to improve efficiency and accuracy, leading to better outcomes and improved quality of life. The park's focus on AI services will also attract businesses and investors from across the country, promoting economic growth and development in the state.
The development of the data centre park is part of the state government's efforts to promote digital growth and development in Chhattisgarh. The government has been actively working to create a conducive environment for businesses and investors, with a focus on promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. The data centre park is expected to play a significant role in this effort, providing a platform for businesses to grow and develop.
In recent months, there have been several other developments in the data centre sector in India, with companies such as CtrlS Datacenters investing heavily in new projects. In February, CtrlS Datacenters inaugurated a new data centre park in Chennai's Ambattur Industrial Estate, representing a direct investment of INR 4,000 crore. Similarly, Mistral AI Lab has announced plans to build a data centre in France, highlighting the growing demand for data centre services globally.
