Ceuta Autonomous City in Spain Broke Ground for Its First Data Center Facility

Ceuta, an autonomous city in Spain, has commenced construction on its first data center facility. The data center is designed to meet Tier III standards, which will encompass an area of 2,450 square meters. Its initial capacity will be 1.2 MW, expandable to 2.4 MW. The data center facility will have its own solar PV plant that consists of 3600 solar panels which will be used to power the data center and another hydrogen generation plant.

The project has received funding from various sources, including the Port Authority of Ceuta. Avangreen has invested approximately USD 16.3 million in the data center facility. PQC Engineering is responsible for the facility's design. PQC has affirmed that the data center will set a benchmark for data centers in the Strait of Gibraltar and North Africa regions.

Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of the year and is anticipated to generate 130 direct and indirect jobs. Juan Manuel Doncel, president of the Port Authority of Ceuta, emphasized that the project aligns with the city's digital strategic development plan, addressing the evolving needs of a world increasingly reliant on data.
