Continental Device India Private Limited (CDIL Semiconductors) has announced a significant expansion of its Mohali facility, marking a major milestone in the company's growth trajectory. The expansion represents a substantial increase in the company's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities following earlier development under government support schemes.

Capacity Enhancement Details

Prithvideep Singh, General Manager of CDIL Semiconductors, revealed that the expansion will increase the company's installed capacity from 600 million units to over 760 million units annually. This represents a capacity increase of more than 160 million units per year, significantly enhancing the facility's production capabilities.

The expansion follows earlier growth achieved under the SPECS scheme and is now supported by ISM approval. Singh emphasized the company's long-standing presence in India's semiconductor sector, stating that "For 60 years, CDIL has quietly built the backbone of India's semiconductor industry."

Production Focus and Technology

The expanded facility will intensify its focus on producing Silicon and Silicon Carbide chips, which are identified as crucial components in the semiconductor sector. These materials represent key technologies in modern semiconductor manufacturing, with Silicon Carbide chips being particularly important for advanced applications.

The company's production strategy aligns with the growing demand for these specialized semiconductor components, positioning CDIL to serve both domestic and potentially international markets with increased manufacturing capacity.
