BASF has signed an investment agreement with Nanjing Jiangbei New Area to establish a new electronic materials production site in the Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Materials High-Tech Park.

The announcement was made on November 3, 2026, in Nanjing, China.

BASF Expands Local Semiconductor Materials Manufacturing in China

The investment reinforces BASF's stated commitment to supporting the development of China's growing semiconductor industry through local manufacturing, technical expertise, and reliable supply.

According to the company, the facility will expand BASF's manufacturing capabilities for semiconductor materials in China, enhance supply chain resilience, and strengthen customer support through a "local-for-local" approach.

Executive Commentary on the Strategy

"Through this investment, we are strengthening our local manufacturing footprint to better support our customers and contribute to the continued development of China's semiconductor industry," said Jens Liebermann, Senior Vice President and head of BASF's Global Electronic Materials business.

"The investment marks another important milestone in BASF's 'local-for-local' strategy. Building on BASF's existing strong presence in Nanjing will further strengthen the company's manufacturing, supply chain, and technical support network and will enable us to better serve customers in the region," added Gops Pillay, President, Global Operating Division of BASF.

The company emphasized that the investment supports the growth of China's semiconductor industry through local production, technical expertise, and customer collaboration.
