AtlasEdge Breaks Ground on Second Leverkusen Data Center with 4.4MW Capacity.
AtlasEdge, a data center provider in Europe, has announced the development of a second data center in Leverkusen, Germany, citing strong demand at its existing facility as the primary driver behind the expansion into additional capacity in the Rhineland region.
A Second Site for a Near-Capacity Market
The new facility, designated LEV002, will be located adjacent to the company's existing LEV001 site in Leverkusen.
AtlasEdge confirmed that LEV001 is already nearing full capacity, a situation the company says has made the case for additional colocation, connectivity, and high-performance infrastructure in the region.
Construction on LEV002 began, and the facility is scheduled to be ready for service in the second quarter of 2027. The site will deliver 4.4 megawatts of capacity across approximately 3,400 square meters of technical space.
Georg Raiser, Managing Director DACH at AtlasEdge Data Centers, said the project reflects the company's broader strategy in the country.
"With the development of this new data center, we are advancing our long-term growth strategy in Germany. AtlasEdge is investing in high-growth European markets, delivering modern, high-performance infrastructure where customers need it most. Expanding our footprint in Leverkusen strengthens our ability to support customers across one of Germany's leading economic regions."
Design Priorities: AI Readiness and High-Density Workloads
LEV002 has been designed to support AI-ready and high-density deployments alongside what AtlasEdge describes as high standards of resilience, efficiency, and operational performance.
The company did not specify the cooling technologies to be deployed at the new facility, though its broader portfolio includes both liquid-to-chip and air-cooled designs.
The facility will be powered entirely by renewable energy and is being built to comply with Germany's Energy Efficiency Act, known as EnEfG. AtlasEdge has also confirmed that LEV002 is planned to achieve certifications.

Part of a Wider German Expansion
The Leverkusen announcement is the latest in a series of moves by AtlasEdge to grow its presence across Germany. In July 2025, the company announced a new data center in Stuttgart, marking another addition to its German portfolio.
The company describes Germany as one of its key European markets. AtlasEdge operates across 14 strategic locations in Europe and was formed as a joint venture between Liberty Global (a networks and technology company) and DigitalBridge (a global digital infrastructure investment firm).
The company has stated a target of more than 500 megawatts in its power landbank by the end of 2026. Its current focus markets include Lisbon, Vienna, Barcelona, Madrid, Brussels, and multiple cities across Germany.
The company's modular construction approach is designed to enable rapid deployments for facilities under 10 megawatts, while it continues to develop larger campus-scale projects in parallel.
German Demand Driving Investment Decisions
The pace of AtlasEdge's activity in Germany reflects what the company characterizes as rising demand for digital infrastructure across the country. The near-full occupancy of LEV001 provided a direct commercial signal for the LEV002 investment, according to the company's announcement.
Georg Raiser was appointed Managing Director for the DACH region in May 2025, a hire AtlasEdge made as it intensified its focus on Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. His appointment came as the company began accelerating development activity across the region.
AtlasEdge has stated that since its formation in 2021, customers have used its facilities to deploy artificial intelligence, cloud, and mission-critical workloads. The company also offers support to customers entering new European markets through tax, legal, and site-selection services, positioning itself not only as an infrastructure provider but as a broader entry point into European operations.
