Hertfordshire Campus (DC01UK) – Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

Equinix has acquired the under-construction DC01UK site in Hertfordshire and plans to invest EUR 3.9 billion to develop its Hertfordshire Campus. Located on an 85-acre site near the M25 motorway at South Mimms, the project will deliver more than 250MW of data center capacity and span over 2 million square feet once fully built out. The campus is expected to be operational by 2029 and become one of the largest Equinix data centers.
The development represents Equinix’s largest European investment to date. During construction, the one of the largest data center projects in UK is expected to generate approximately 2,500 local jobs. Once operational, it will support more than 200 permanent roles, many of them highly skilled. Economic estimates suggest the campus could contribute billions in Gross Value Added during construction and hundreds of millions annually once live.
The Hertfordshire Campus is designed with sustainability at its core. The facility will operate under 100% renewable energy agreements and will use dry cooling technology, keeping water consumption comparable to that of a conventional office building. Equinix has committed to retaining 54% of the site as open space and delivering at least a 10% biodiversity net gain through new ecological habitats.

Lelystad Data Center Campus - Lelystad, Netherlands
Equinix is planning a 150 MW data center campus in Lelystad, located at the Flevokust Haven industrial estate, approximately 55 km east of Amsterdam. The EUR 1.5 billion development will comprise three two-story data center buildings and is expected to be delivered in phases through 2028 or 2029. Construction is anticipated to begin next year, subject to permitting approvals currently underway.
A key feature of the project is its direct proximity to the Maxima power plant, an 861MW gas-fired facility owned by Engie. The site has been designated for data center development by the municipality since 2016, positioning it as a strategic expansion zone outside the constrained Amsterdam metro market. Equinix already operates nine data centers in the Amsterdam region, along with facilities in Enschede and Zwolle.
DA12 Campus – Dallas, Texas, USA

Equinix is expanding its Dallas footprint with the development of the DA12 Campus at 1550 West Mockingbird Lane in Dallas, Texas. The project will redevelop a former printing site previously occupied by Taylor Publishing Company and Balfour Publishing, which has since been demolished to make way for the new facilities.
The first phase, DA12-1, will be a four-story data center spanning approximately 372,515 square feet. Construction is scheduled to run from February 2026 through October 2027, with an investment of more than USD 542.8 million. A second four-story building, DA12-2, will follow on the same site, representing an additional USD 293.7 million investment, with construction planned from September 2027 to March 2028.
Together, the two facilities will become one of the largest data center projects in USA, where Equinix already operates eight data centers. The DA12 Campus becomes one of the largest data centers in Texas, supporting enterprise, cloud, and hyperscale customers across Texas and the broader region.

AkzoNobel Data Center Campus – Slough, United Kingdom
Equinix has received outline planning approval to develop a new data center campus on the former AkzoNobel paint factory site off Wexham Road in Slough, UK. The project will occupy approximately half of the former industrial site and now moves into the detailed planning stage, where final designs covering building scale, appearance, and landscaping will be submitted to Slough Borough Council.
The campus is expected to comprise three data center buildings, each housing dedicated data halls. The redevelopment follows Equinix’s earlier approval to demolish the existing factory structures. The site, historically used for paint manufacturing, including the Dulux brand, was previously acquired by Slough Council before being sold for data center redevelopment.
Slough is one of the UK’s most established data center markets, and this project further strengthens Equinix’s footprint in the region. The company already operates multiple facilities in Slough and recently secured approval for its 30 MW LD14 development on Banbury Avenue, alongside its existing LD campus. The new Slough campus will expand capacity in a key London metro location with strong enterprise and cloud demand.
LS3 Data Center - Lisbon, Portugal

Equinix is planning to develop a third data center in Lisbon, Portugal, with construction targeted for 2027. The project, expected to be named LS3, will expand the company’s existing campus in the Lisbon area, where it has operated since 2000. While the investment value has not yet been disclosed, the timeline remains flexible as Equinix completes its current expansion phase.
The new facility will follow the near-completion of LS2 International Business Exchange in Prior Velho, located adjacent to the original LS1 site. LS2 represents an investment of approximately EUR 100 million across all phases and is scheduled to become operational in June 2025. With LS1 nearing full occupancy and LS2 coming online, LS3 is positioned as the next step in scaling Equinix’s Lisbon presence.
Lisbon is increasingly viewed as a strategic data center hub due to its access to submarine cable networks, renewable energy availability, land supply, and relatively low exposure to extreme weather risks. The planned LS3 development will further strengthen Equinix’s footprint in Portugal as demand grows for cloud infrastructure and AI-ready capacity across Southern Europe.
Conclusion - Equinix Current and Future Projects
Equinix’s 2026 project pipeline focuses on the expansion of xScale campuses and AI-ready infrastructure. Major campuses in the UK, the Netherlands, and the US show a preference for power-rich, metro-adjacent sites capable of supporting 100MW-plus deployments.
At the same time, new developments in Lisbon and continued investment across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa show that Equinix is not concentrating growth in a single region. Instead, it is building a globally distributed AI backbone supported by renewable energy commitments, liquid cooling investments, and joint venture capital structures designed to scale efficiently.
Looking ahead, Equinix’s strategy suggests continued large-campus announcements, phased hyperscale buildouts, and incremental IBX expansions. The data center company is setting a platform for the future of AI, cloud, and enterprise connectivity worldwide, with more than 1.5GW of additional hyperscale capacity planned in the US alone.
