About the NPS Calculator

Net Promoter Score (NPS) is the most widely used measure of customer loyalty and satisfaction.

It's calculated by subtracting the percentage of detractors from the percentage of promoters.

Formula

            NPS = (Promoters - Detractors) / Total Responses × 100

NPS
— Net Promoter Score
P
— Promoters — respondents rating 9-10
D
— Detractors — respondents rating 0-6
T
— Total Responses

Example calculations

Customer NPS survey

A company surveyed 100 customers: 50 promoters, 30 passives, 20 detractors.

NPS = (50 - 20) / 100 × 100 = 30.

Net Promoter Score:
30
Rating:
Good
Total responses:
100
Margin of error:
±19.6

NPS = 30 (Good). Margin of error: ±19.6 points.

Interpreting your results

NPS ranges from -100 to +100. A score above 0 is good, above 50 is excellent, above 70 is world-class.

The margin of error tells you the precision of your NPS estimate.
