Zelestra and ECODES Partner with Microsoft for 95.7 MWac Solar Energy Initiative in Aragón, Spain
Zelestra, a global renewable energy company, has announced a new collaboration with Microsoft and Aragón-based nonprofit ECODES to deliver clean energy and community investment in the Spanish region of Aragón. The partnership, announced on November 24, 2025, involves a Power Purchase Agreement between Microsoft and Zelestra for two solar projects with significant community benefit components.
Solar Project Details and Energy Agreement
Microsoft will purchase clean energy from Zelestra's Escatrón II and Fuendetodos II solar projects in Zaragoza, Aragón, through a long-term Power Purchase Agreement. The two solar facilities, currently under construction, will have a combined capacity of 95.7 MWac. This arrangement allows Microsoft to secure renewable energy for its operations while supporting the development of clean energy infrastructure in the region.
Community Investment and Grant Programs
As part of the agreement, ECODES will receive funding to implement direct impact programs in Aragón and lead grant-making activities supporting community-led sustainability initiatives. The organization will focus particularly on programs with and for vulnerable communities in the region. Community Funds generated through this collaboration will be directed toward expanding access to sustainable infrastructure and healthy environments, advancing economic inclusion, and building resource capacity for community-serving organizations that support local populations.
ECODES will take responsibility for listening to local stakeholders to ensure the benefits of the collaboration reach those who need them most, with an emphasis on strengthening social participation and territorial balance while ensuring no one is left behind during the energy transition.
