Expansion Plans and Capacity
According to the company, the proposed 4 GW manufacturing project forms a key part of Websol's long-term expansion roadmap. In September 2025, Websol announced plans to build the facility in two phases, raising its total planned production capacity to 5.2 GW.
The facility represents a significant expansion for Websol, which has over three decades of experience in solar cell manufacturing. The company aims to strengthen its contribution to India's renewable-energy goals through innovation, capacity expansion, and sustainable growth.
Strategic Significance
Mr. Agarwal said the MoU marks a major milestone in the company's strategy to scale its renewable-energy manufacturing footprint in India. “This agreement reflects our commitment to expanding operations and delivering next-generation, high-efficiency solar solutions across the country. The proposed investment will support India's clean-energy transition while creating long-term value for stakeholders,” he stated.
The partnership with Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board positions Websol to significantly expand its manufacturing capabilities in the renewable energy sector. The proposed facility would integrate both solar cell and module manufacturing operations at a single location in Andhra Pradesh.
