Vodafone Carrier Services has introduced Express Capacity, a connectivity service designed to help carriers, cloud providers, and hyperscalers expand their networks faster.

Announced on October 13, 2026, the service offers 100G and 400G connections on selected European routes, with activation available from November 2026.

Delivery Target of Up to 15 Days

Express Capacity uses routes on Vodafone’s European backbone where network equipment and capacity are already available, reducing the preparation needed to connect customers.

Vodafone targets delivery within 15 days on eligible routes, subject to standard provisioning and testing. Bespoke configurations and customer-specific requirements will have separately agreed schedules. Orders are already open.

Initial Coverage Spans Six European Hubs

The first phase covers London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Marseille, and Milan, connecting major carrier-neutral data centres.

The footprint also provides access to cable landing stations and Vodafone’s core network, supporting connectivity to the Apollo, Amitié, Europe India Gateway, and SEA-ME-WE 5 subsea cable systems. Further routes and locations are planned as customer requirements evolve.

Supporting Cloud and AI Infrastructure

Vodafone positions the service as a response to changing connectivity requirements as businesses enter new markets, link data centers, and develop sovereign cloud environments. Growing AI workloads add to the need for high-capacity connections that can become available alongside computing infrastructure.

According to Vodafone, a 400G connection can carry up to 180 terabytes per hour. The company plans to extend coverage beyond established hubs into regions with renewable energy resources and strong international connectivity.

Automation to Simplify Service Delivery

The launch also supports Vodafone’s wider network automation programme. The company is automating service build, testing, and configuration to simplify delivery and management.

Oscar Monteagudo, Carrier Sales and Subsea Business Director at Vodafone Business, said customers increasingly need capacity available at the right location and time. Vodafone links the service’s development to the broader shift towards on-demand connectivity, including Network-as-a-Service models.

Stay Ahead of the European Data Center Boom

Data center demand is accelerating at a pace the industry has never seen, driven by AI workloads, cloud expansion, and digital infrastructure investment across European markets. But with hundreds of new projects announced, tendered, and delivered every quarter, the real question is, how many of these opportunities are passing you by unnoticed?

Tracking capital projects manually means relying on fragmented news, stale databases, and word-of-mouth. By the time a hyperscale campus or colocation facility appears in public coverage, the contracts are often already awarded. The advantage lies in seeing the pipeline earlier and acting faster.

The Global Project Tracking (GPT) platform by Blackridge Research delivers real-time intelligence on data center developments across Europe, covering every stage of the project lifecycle so your team can identify prospects, target the right stakeholders, and time your outreach with precision.
