Vattenfall has unveiled plans for the 303 MW Redmere onshore wind project in East Anglia, eastern England, which could become the country’s largest operating onshore wind farm if it reaches construction and operation.

The Swedish energy company is advancing Redmere as one of two planned wind developments that are expected to move into community consultation before formal planning applications are submitted. Redmere’s scale makes it particularly significant for England, where large onshore wind developments have remained limited for much of the past decade.

Redmere Could Set a New Scale for Onshore Wind in England

At 303 MW, Vattenfall’s proposed Redmere project would represent a major increase over the scale of England’s existing operational onshore wind fleet. The current benchmark is the 68 MW Keadby Wind Farm, which has remained England’s largest operating onshore wind facility for years.

If developed as proposed, Redmere would exceed Keadby’s capacity by approximately 235 MW and would be around 4.5 times larger. The project would therefore establish a new capacity benchmark for onshore wind development in England.
