Vantage Data Centers has completed a USD 1.6 billion equity investment into its Asia-Pacific platform led by an affiliate of GIC, a global institutional investor, and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). The company announced on November 23, 2025, that part of this capital was allocated to close the acquisition of Yondr Group's 300MW+ hyperscale data center campus located in Sedenak Tech Park, Johor, Malaysia.

The transaction, initially announced in September, expands Vantage's regional platform to 1GW of operational and planned IT capacity across Australia, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The addition of the Johor campus marks Vantage's third campus in Malaysia and strengthens its ability to serve customers with direct access to other key Asia-Pacific markets, including Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand.

Strategic Investment and Expansion

The USD 1.6 billion equity investment represents a significant expansion of Vantage Data Centers' presence in the Asia-Pacific region. Jeremy Deutsch, president of Vantage Data Centers, APAC, stated that “DigitalBridge's vision and long-standing investment, now bolstered by new commitments from anchor investors GIC and ADIA, will drive our continued growth and expansion in the region.”

Deutsch described the finalization of the acquisition of the Johor campus as “an important step in our growth strategy for APAC.” He characterized the facility as “one of Southeast Asia's largest and most advanced hyperscale campuses,” which will enhance Vantage's ability to deliver sustainable and scalable infrastructure for AI and cloud customers across the region at rapid speed and scale.

Campus Specifications and Features

The Johor campus, designated JHB1, spans nearly 73 acres and will deliver more than 300MW of IT capacity across three data centers upon full development. The facility is strategically located within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, offering connectivity with dark fiber routes and access to regional hubs.

The campus incorporates several sustainability-focused features. It was originally financed through a green loan and includes advanced technologies such as direct-to-chip liquid cooling. The data center campus is currently on track to meet EDGE certification standards, demonstrating its commitment to environmental performance.

Workforce Integration and Regional Impact

As part of the acquisition, Vantage Data Centers will welcome more than 30 Yondr APAC team members into the Vantage APAC organization. Deutsch expressed enthusiasm about this integration, stating, “We're thrilled to welcome more than 30 Yondr APAC team members into the Vantage APAC family. We look forward to their contributions as we expand and support our customers in the locations that matter most.”

The acquisition positions Vantage Data Centers as a significant player in the Southeast Asian data center market. The company describes itself as a global leader in digital infrastructure serving AI and cloud providers, with operations spanning North America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific. According to the company, Vantage delivers capacity at speed and scale, driven by operational excellence and customer success commitments.

The completed transaction and investment mark a substantial milestone in Vantage's Asia-Pacific expansion strategy, providing the company with enhanced capabilities to serve the growing demand for hyperscale data center services in the region. The strategic location of the Johor campus offers particular advantages for customers requiring connectivity to multiple Southeast Asian markets.
