Turkish Petroleum awards EPCI contract for Sakarya gas field

Last Updated on 08th January 2024

Turkish Petroleum has awarded a contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of end-to-end production solutions for the Sakarya gas field, located offshore Turkey, to Schlumberger and Subsea 7, as part of a consortium.

The integrated project will cover well completions, subsea production systems (SPS), subsea umbilicals, risers, flowlines (SURF), and an early production facility, as well as subsurface solutions to onshore production (EPF).

Schlumberger will be responsible for the well completions scope, as well as the design, building, and commissioning of the early production facility, which will be capable of handling up to 350 MMscfd of gas. OneSubsea, Schlumberger's subsea technologies, production, and processing systems subsidiary, and Subsea 7 will supply the SPS and SURF scope.

The EPCI of the undersea pipelines and associated equipment to link the subsea wells in around 2,000 meters of water depth to the EPF is part of Subsea 7's scope of work.

Infield flowlines, control umbilicals, tie-in connections, associated subsea equipment, 170 km of gas export pipeline, and monoethylene glycol injection pipeline to the EPF are also part of the project.

Project management and engineering are now underway and will be overseen from Istanbul. The revenue portion of the deal is valued at about $750 million by Subsea 7.

Sakarya is Turkey's largest gas field ever discovered. About 100 nautical miles into the Black Sea, the undersea development will be built.
