True Internet Data Center Co., Ltd. has launched construction of its seventh data center in northern Bangkok, committing more than USD 182.4 million to a facility designed to meet the growing demands of cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The groundbreaking ceremony marked a new phase of expansion for the company, which operates as the largest data center and cloud service provider in Thailand under the Charoen Pokphand Group.
A Major Commitment to Thailand's Digital Future
The project represents a continuation of True IDC's infrastructure investment strategy, with the new facility positioned as an AI Hyperscale data center intended to serve both Thai and international organizations. According to the company, the site is scheduled to officially launch in the third quarter of 2027.
Thanasorn Jaidee, Managing Director of True IDC, framed the investment within the context of accelerating regional demand for artificial intelligence capabilities.
He cited IDC research projecting that investments in AI and generative AI across the Asia-Pacific region will grow fivefold, reaching a value of USD 334.4 billion by 2029, reflecting an average annual growth rate of 38.4 percent.
Jaidee identified access to AI Hyperscale-level infrastructure as a major challenge for businesses today, describing the new facility as a direct response to that gap.
"Our goal is to build a world-class data center to support such infrastructure," he said, adding that the project is intended to serve as "a key gear accelerating Thailand to sustainably become the digital and AI economic hub of the ASEAN region."
Location and Strategic Design
The data center is situated in northern Bangkok, an area the company describes as experiencing continuous business expansion, with convenient transportation links and proximity to the city center. True IDC stated that the location is part of a deliberate effort to create diversity across its data center sites.
The facility will function as a massive core network connectivity hub, connecting to what the company describes as the largest core network hub in Thailand. The design allows for transmission and exchange of large volumes of data both domestically and internationally, with support for cloud, AI, and digital platform deployments.
True IDC said the location is intended to give global hyperscale customers and Thai organizations in the public and private sectors the ability to initiate system deployments and deliver digital products to end users more rapidly.
The company also noted that the site has been assessed as safe from natural disasters, which it cited as a factor in ensuring continuous business operations.

Technical Specifications and Infrastructure Capabilities
The building and its support systems are being constructed using modular techniques for high-rise structures, with an emphasis on precision and speed of construction. The interior has been designed to accommodate high-density processing of both CPU and GPU chips.
Power infrastructure includes multi-layered main and backup systems described as high-efficiency. The facility is built to support both air cooling and liquid cooling systems, with the capability to customize cooling configurations according to customer requirements. The company said these features are intended to meet the demands of advanced AI computing workloads.
A robust network architecture and strict security systems are also part of the facility's design, according to True IDC's announcement.
Standards, Certification, and Sustainability
True IDC said the new data center will operate in accordance with the internationally recognized standards of the Uptime Institute, the global authority on data center performance and reliability. The company also indicated that strict data governance protocols will be in place in line with required standards.
On the environmental and energy side, the facility's sustainability management will align with ISO 14001, which covers environmental management, and ISO 50001, which addresses energy management. True IDC stated that maintaining Power Usage Effectiveness, commonly referred to as PUE, at an optimal level is among the sustainability goals for the project.
Broader Implications for Thailand's Technology Ecosystem
True IDC positioned the seventh data center as more than a business expansion, describing it as a component necessary for completing Thailand's broader technological ecosystem.
The company said the investment reflects a commitment to elevating the country's digital infrastructure industry, promoting economic development, and supporting data sovereignty.
The facility joins an existing portfolio of data centers operated by True IDC across Thailand. With the addition of the northern Bangkok site, the company is extending its capacity to accommodate hyperscale computing demands that it says are increasingly difficult for businesses to meet through existing infrastructure options in the market.
The official launch remains targeted for the third quarter of 2027, pending the completion of construction and commissioning of the facility's systems.
Thailand's Data Center Boom Is Moving Fast, Is Your Pipeline Keeping Up?
Across Thailand, demand for data center capacity is accelerating at a pace that leaves little room for missed opportunities. New facilities are being commissioned, land is being secured, and contracts are being awarded before many market participants even realize a project has entered the pipeline.
Staying competitive in this environment requires more than industry news and occasional market reports. It demands a continuously updated, structured view of every significant development across the region, from early-stage planning approvals through to completed hyperscale campuses.
