The Los Angeles Clippers' future home, the Intuit Dome, has commenced ground in Inglewood, California, next to the recently constructed SoFi Stadium. The purpose of the project is to build a technologically advanced arena, entertainment venue, and outdoor plaza that will provide a very intimate and intense experience.
The event, which will seat about 18,000 people, is meant to provide the best possible experience for the community and fans. A steel frame with diagrid geometry, inspired by the shape of a basketball net as a ball travels through it, will define the facility's aesthetically exciting and structurally efficient appearance.
The Intuit Dome will use an indoor-outdoor approach to take advantage of the Southern California environment, with a naturally ventilated entrance and upper concourse. Natural light and solar heat gain will be balanced by a solar-optimized building shell.
Anderson Barker Architects, Hood Design Studio, City Design Studio, Walter P. Moore, Henderson Engineering, and Labib Funk & Associates are among the main design team members, in addition to AECOM. The Intuit Dome is set to open for the NBA season 2024-2025.
