Swedish battery storage developer Tavion has secured USD 58.15 million in new funding and is moving into the construction phase of its first three battery parks in Poland, with the first two projects set to break ground in September 2026.
Oversubscribed Round Draws New and Existing Investors
The funding comprises USD 39.54 million in equity raised through an oversubscribed financing round and USD 18.61 million in debt financing, bringing total new capital to USD 58.15 million.
The equity round was led by Leitmotif and Oberon Capital, with participation from existing investors BackingMinds and Course Corrected VC. Capcora acted as financial advisor on the debt financing, while Nirou advised on the equity round.
The oversubscription accelerated Tavion's development timeline by one quarter, allowing the company to enter the construction phase ahead of its original schedule. CEO Emad Zand said the result reflected confidence in the company's ability to execute at speed.
"We can build, and we can build quickly. That is why the round came in above what we asked for – and this capital lets us keep our accelerated pace. We can buy the whole portfolio and start construction of three parks now instead of waiting until next year. This takes us out of PowerPoint and into the physical world, with cash flows behind the next phase," Zand said.
Three Parks Totalling 69 MW to Be Built Across Poland
The capital will fund the construction of three battery parks in Poland with a combined capacity of 69 MW. The three parks are being financed through a combination of the newly raised equity and the USD 18.61 million debt facility. Two of the parks are scheduled to break ground in September 2026.
The three projects form part of a broader 184 MW portfolio that Tavion has at or close to the ready-to-build stage in Poland. Across that portfolio, land, grid connection, and building permits are either secured or in the final phase.
The company also holds a wider project pipeline of 1.7 GW in the country. Tavion has indicated that the full build-out of the portfolio will require additional debt and equity financing beyond what has been raised to date.

Poland's Energy Transition Driving Storage Demand
Tavion has identified Poland as one of Europe's most attractive markets for battery energy storage, pointing to a rapidly rising share of renewables, an ongoing coal phase-out, high electricity price volatility, and new government support schemes as the primary demand drivers. Despite these conditions, the company notes that very few grid-connected batteries are currently in operation in the country.
Philipp Emig at lead investor Leitmotif described the Polish energy system as undergoing rapid electrification while simultaneously rebuilding its generation mix, creating conditions where battery-delivered flexibility is becoming a structural necessity.
"Flexibility, delivered by batteries, is becoming a core building block of that system, for the grid and for industrial loads such as data centers. Reliable, affordable, and stable electricity will be the foundation of industrial competitiveness and energy security," Emig said, adding that the capabilities of the Tavion team were central to Leitmotif's decision to invest.
Daniel Linnergren at Oberon Capital, which has tracked the company since before its first financing round, said the firm's conviction had only strengthened as Tavion demonstrated its execution capabilities. "We believe Tavion has the opportunity to become one of the leading platforms in the sector," Linnergren said.
Company Has Grown Rapidly Since April Launch
Tavion was founded and is headquartered in Stockholm. The company launched in April 2026 and has since grown to more than 20 employees across Sweden and Poland.
It is led by CEO Emad Zand, who is described as a serial entrepreneur and investor and who previously served as CEO of Northvolt's battery systems division. The company's Polish operations are headed by Katarzyna Suchcicka, who previously built and led OX2's operations in Poland.
The September funding announcement brings Tavion's total disclosed financing to USD 77.92 million over the past two quarters. That figure includes the USD 38.96 million equity financing announced in September, the USD 18.61 million debt facility, a USD 8.14 million equity round announced in late April, and USD 11.63 million in development financing.
Further European Market Entries in Preparation
While the immediate focus is on the Polish build-out, Tavion has stated it is preparing to enter additional European markets in parallel. The company said it sees comparable potential in several other European countries where the same energy transition dynamics driving storage demand in Poland are beginning to take effect. Tavion has said securing grid capacity and permits early is critical and is treating parallel market preparation as a strategic priority.
The company's stated long-term goal is to deploy 3 GW of storage capacity across Europe within five years, with Poland serving as its first market.
