Tata Power Renewable Energy Partners with Bank of Baroda for Solar Financing Solutions
Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bank of Baroda to provide financing solutions for MSME and commercial & industrial (C&I) customers opting for solar energy. The partnership aims to make it easier for businesses to adopt solar energy and transition to cleaner power sources.
Financing Structure and Capacity
Under this partnership, Bank of Baroda will offer loans for solar projects and equipment with a capacity of up to 10 MW through TPREL or its authorized partners. The financing solutions are specifically designed to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as well as commercial and industrial customers looking to implement solar energy systems.
TPREL's Market Position and Installations
TPREL has completed over 2.49 lakh rooftop solar installations as of August 2025, totaling more than 3.6 GWp in capacity. In the commercial and industrial sectors, the company serves a diverse range of industries, including hospitality, automotive, aviation, education, HVAC, chemicals, steel, electronics, and textiles. The company operates as part of Tata Power, which is described as India's largest vertically integrated power company. Tata Power is focused on producing electricity entirely from renewable sources and also manufactures solar rooftops.

Financial Performance
In Q1 FY26, Tata Power posted a consolidated net profit of INR 1,262.32 crore, representing an increase of 6.2% compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. The company's revenue also showed growth, rising 4.3% to INR 18,035.07 crore compared with Q1 FY25. Following the announcement of the partnership with Bank of Baroda, the company's shares rose 0.85% to INR 387.10 on the BSE. A company spokesperson stated that “This collaboration will make it easier for businesses to adopt solar energy and transition to cleaner power sources.”
