Taaleri Energia today inaugurated the Hallanvahti solar park in Joroinen, North Savo, together with project partners, stakeholders, and local residents. The inauguration event is open to the public and began at the solar park site at Viholanniementie 132, Joroinen.

Inauguration Marks Completion of 129 MWp Facility

The 129 MWp solar power plant commenced operations at the end of June 2026, and its generation capacity makes it one of Finland's largest solar power plants.

The Taaleri SolarWind III Fund invested in the Hallanvahti project in February 2025, and funds managed by Taaleri Energia own the project in full. The plant is equipped with 204,000 bifacial single-axis tracking solar panels, which are expected to generate approximately 140 GWh of electricity annually. According to Taaleri Energia, this output corresponds to the electricity consumption of approximately 18,000 Finnish households.

Construction on Challenging Peatland Terrain

The project is described as exceptional due to its location in challenging terrain. The approximately 200-hectare project site has been constructed on drained peatland covered by a layer of peat.

The project aims to preserve the peat layer throughout construction and the solar park's operational lifetime, while managing water flows effectively. Despite the demanding terrain, the required investigations and construction work progressed as planned.

Kai Rintala, Managing Director of Taaleri Energia, said the park is a particularly significant project for the company in Finland due to its ambitious scale, technology and rapid delivery schedule.

He credited the company's highly skilled partners for keeping the project on schedule, with particular attention paid to environmental considerations throughout the construction process.

According to Rintala, the solar park will supply a significant volume of clean energy to the Finnish electricity market, strengthening both national resilience and the vitality of the local economy.

Partnership and Financing Structure

The project was developed in collaboration with Taaleri Energia by Etec Automation and its subsidiary 3Flash Finland. Eltel Networks was responsible for the project's engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and will provide maintenance services for the solar park.

On the financing side, the project has a long-term power purchase agreement with Oulun Energia and project financing from SEB. The European Union supports the activities through the InvestEU Fund, and the project has also received funding from the European Union's NextGenerationEU instrument.

Investment Perspective on Growing Electricity Demand

Petri Isotalus, Investment Director at Taaleri Energia, extended sincere thanks to all project partners for what he described as excellent cooperation. He called Hallanvahti an important project for Taaleri Energia's fund investors, Finland's energy transition, and local energy self-sufficiency.

As electricity demand grows, renewable energy generation capacity is becoming an increasingly important investment theme, according to Isotalus, who cited Hallanvahti as an excellent example of this trend.
