Suzlon Energy has been awarded a 170.1 megawatt (MW) wind power contract by AMPIN Energy Transition for a project to be developed in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. This marks the third consecutive order from AMPIN to Suzlon, reinforcing an ongoing partnership focused on advancing renewable energy in India.
Under the agreement, Suzlon will supply and install 54 of its S144 wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. The turbines feature hybrid lattice towers and are designed to maximize output in varied wind conditions.
The project scope includes the full lifecycle of wind farm development from equipment supply and installation to commissioning and long-term operations and maintenance services. Suzlon will oversee all stages of implementation to ensure efficient and timely execution.
Supporting India’s Renewable Energy Goals
The partnership supports both companies’ shared vision of a self-reliant and sustainable energy future, with a strong emphasis on domestic manufacturing and clean energy deployment.
AMPIN Energy Transition is one of India’s leading renewable energy transition firms, with a portfolio totaling 5 gigawatts (GWp) across 23 states. Suzlon, a key player in India’s wind energy sector, has installed more than 21 GW of capacity across 17 countries.
Industry Leaders Emphasize Strategic Collaboration
JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, emphasized the importance of distributed renewable energy in India’s decarbonisation path, stating that “India's decarbonisation journey will be won or lost at the distribution level.”
Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Founder and CEO of AMPIN Energy Transition, highlighted the strategic alignment, noting, “Our continued partnership with Suzlon reflects confidence in their deep expertise and our shared commitment to India’s self-reliance and clean energy goals.”
The Kurnool project is expected to significantly contribute to India’s efforts to scale up wind energy capacity while supporting the wider transition to a greener, more resilient power system.
