STTGDC announced on 27 October 2026 that it has secured a USD 589.56 million green loan facility to finance the fit-out and subsequent operation of STTGDC TYO1 and STTGDC TYO2, the two buildings that comprise its data center campus in Japan.
Green Loan Facility Announced
The loan was announced from Tokyo and will support the continued development of STTGDC's Japan platform, strengthening the company's ability to serve customers and expand their cloud, AI, and other mission-critical digital workloads in the market.
The campus is located within Goodman Business Park in Inzai City, in the Greater Tokyo area, and will provide a combined 70.8 MW of IT capacity. According to STTGDC, the campus is intended to support growing demand from hyperscalers, cloud service providers, and enterprises for secure, scalable, and energy-efficient digital infrastructure in Japan.
Green Loan Structure Tied to Environmental Criteria
The facility has been structured in accordance with the Green Loan Principles, linking financing to defined environmental eligibility criteria. Among these criteria are the data centers attaining an agreed green building certification and achieving a design Power Usage Effectiveness ratio of 1.3 or below.
Nelson Lim, Group Chief Financial Officer of STTGDC, said the financing reflects the strength of the company's Japan platform and the confidence of its banking partners in the quality and long-term potential of the Tokyo campus.
"It provides the capital foundation to advance the campus while maintaining a disciplined approach to growth," he said. Lim added that the green-loan structure aligns the company's financing strategy with the environmental performance of the assets it develops, reinforcing how sustainability is integrated into its capital allocation and investment decisions.

Banking Group Behind the Deal
The financing was supported by a group of international and regional banks. Standard Chartered acted as lead coordinator, alongside Mizuho Bank, OCBC, Societe Generale, and UOB. Standard Chartered and Societe Generale also acted as green loan coordinators on the transaction.
TYO1: First Operational Data Center in Japan
STTGDC TYO1 is the company's first operational data center in Japan. The facility has achieved LEED Gold certification and is designed to achieve an annualized Power Usage Effectiveness of less than 1.25. Its closed-loop cooling system is designed to minimise operational water use, with no ongoing water consumption during normal operations.
The facility has obtained ISO 22301, ISO 27001, and ISO/IEC 20000 certifications and complies with Japan Data CenterAI, Council guidelines. Since commencing operations, TYO1 has maintained carbon-neutral operations for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions while continuing to pursue renewable-energy procurement and improvements in energy efficiency.
TYO2 Built for High-Density AI Workloads
STTGDC TYO2 is being developed to support high-density AI and accelerated-computing workloads, with provision for future liquid-cooling deployment. The building is targeting TIA-942-C Design Certification and LEED Gold.
Tokyo Campus Central to Japan Commitment
Kiyoshi Maeda, Chief Executive Officer – Japan at STTGDC, described the Tokyo campus as central to the company's long-term commitment to Japan. According to Maeda, the campus strengthens the company's ability to support customers as their cloud, AI, and digital infrastructure requirements grow.
"Customers need infrastructure that can scale with their ambitions while delivering the resilience and efficiency required for mission-critical operations," Maeda said.
"Through STTGDC TYO1 and STTGDC TYO2, we are building that capacity in one of Japan's established data center markets and creating a strong platform for our continued growth in the country."
Broader Company Momentum
The green loan announcement follows a series of recent developments for STTGDC. Earlier in October 2026, the company announced that Neysa, an India-based AI cloud company, had selected STT Noida 2 to host a new deployment of GPU infrastructure and its Velocis AI cloud platform, enabling enterprises and startups to run production AI workloads in India.
In September 2026, a KKR-Singtel consortium completed its acquisition of STTGDC, with the company launching a refreshed global brand for its next phase of growth. In August 2026, STTGDC was selected by Singapore's Economic Development Board and Infocomm Media Development Authority under the second Data Center Call for Applications to develop 50 MW of new data center capacity in Singapore.
